Sting.com has announced that Sting will be featured in the last-ever episode of Vicar Of Dibley, an extremely funny britcom, to be aired during the British version of Comic Relief. I am a huge Dibley fan; is there any way for one of our UK members to tape a copy for me? I know there's a US/UK difference in tape -- maybe a DVD copy would be possible? I will pay for all discs and shipping. Please let me know if you can help me out with this! Thanks! Holly

OK, there's all this talk and excitement about these guys getting back together and playing the Grammy's, a tour, etc... And of course the hope is that they would possibly come up with some new material. I'm the first person to hope that new material is a possibility from these guys and at the same time I can play the pessimist and realize that it probably won't happen. But, thinking about all this, reading Giovanni's post about Stew telling him that they'll be practicing for some time, and what was it, something like 30 songs? or am I confusing that with another post? Anyways, I'm sure they don't want to sound like they did at the RnRHOF show, so they're gonna have to be spending a fair amount of time together. I would imagine, that at some point, after getting reacquainted musically, they are all gonna realize that the others have changed, ie. musically, stylistically, attitude-wise. Stewart even remarked in that Modern Drummer article how he no longer "rushes" when he plays and is more aware of keeping time. Andy has always been a great guitarist and probably hasn't needed to brush up on anything... Sting, well, I could imagine that his ego has even toned down a bit(call me crazy). SO, my point is, you gotta believe that through all this practicing and playing together again, at some point someone will say, "Hey, I got this great idea for a song", or "I've got these lyrics that I've been holding onto because they're so Police-like, what do you guys think?" You gotta believe that this is gonna happen and that they will start experimenting with new stuff. Of course, the flip-side to that is that it does happen like that, and all the old attitudes and egos come out again and it just all falls apart..... Don't want to get my hopes up, but it's hard not too. What's one more album anyways?! Well, just my thoughts. But the shows from that era sound great in my opnion. What do you all think? I made a tremendous find a few years ago on ebay - a tobacco sunburst, ebony necked, "fat" tele, American made for $660. It does the job and with a little compression, flang, chorus and delay I can get "the sound." Andy's book inspired me to pick it up again and (re)learn those great jazz 7ths, 9ths, sus and add chords. As far as the replica Tele, maybe I'll have to wait until the medical school loans are paid off! Oh my goodness, this is so fun. It's like Policefans Anonymous coming out of the closet. OK, my confession (some of you have heard this) while I have hung onto Sting since the split, and love his work, NOTHING has ever floated my boat like the three of them together. The Broken Music tour started my yearning for them to be together again. I can't believe this is actually happening! I so have to finish packing and just came to give the computer a quick last check. Here I am sucked in again... Welcome all you newly "out"ed (not that that's a word) fans! Michelle, Police Party planner for Austin TX! I'm a 5+ year lurker of this mailing list. This is the only such list I've ever followed. I've never seen the Police perform. Prior to 2003, my friend (another dedicated fan) and I fantisized about a reunion. After the R'nRoll Induction, we prayed for a reunion. Over the next few years, we basically conceeded that it would never happen. And all of a sudden, it's on the verge of happening...... This possibility is consuming my thoughts. I've loaded my computer at work with all the Police material I have. I've been inspired to buy a record player and archive digital versions of some rare LP bootlegs (including the great MM-14) on my computer. I finished Andy's book in November and revisited Sting's "Broken Music". I look at my collection of 7" singles and signed LPs that have been on my wall, in higher prominace than my medical degree, in my office. I'm considering purchasing the Andy Summers replica Fender Telecaster. All of a sudden, it's on the verge of happening..... I'm flying my best friend to Minneapolis to have a Grammy's party: one song, one performance is the party. Someone on this list speculated that the tour would not be for us, but for a broader audience. This event is for us more than any others. This is the ONE thing that EVERY member of this list has dreamed and perhaps been too afraid to hope for. And all of a sudden, it's on the verge of happening.... My name is Mark and I live in Minneapolis. If the Police play here, I will orginize the party for any list members that want to come. Hell, I'll buy the drinks. And when I got to NY, I hope one of you will do the same. And when I go to LA, I hope one of you will do the same.... If I'm able to get extra tickets, I will offer them at cost/trade to members of this list.
