To me, his voice really is predominent over the music, especially in the first track. I love his lyricism too, but I don't want it in my face. I want it to sink in. There is one song where Sting's hybrid style is a little bit hard to accept, because the feel of the song shifts gears completely. I'll have to do some more listening definitely. I am psyched Sting is playing the hammerstein ballroom on Oct 4. The announcement on Sting.com caught me by surprise. The hammerstein is a fun place so although no assigned seating its still fun to be able to roam etc. in a smaller venue. Although smaller is relative - I think it holds like 3,500.

before going on to main topic, let me say i am still in mourning over the loss of the great johnny cash, who covered "i hung my head" on his last studio record. a music icon of the elvis variety. next, i cannot remember if this topic has been raised yet, so i will raise it: how does everyone feel about the posting of setlists/review from every show on a sting tour? i must say that i am not a fan of it. i saw three shows on the dreaded BND tour, 2 of them within 3 days of each other. what is important is the 1st one that i saw: having already seen the setlist (which we all know NEVER changes)and read a good portion of the reviews (show reviews and some respective song-by-song reviews), that as a result of all the pre-concert "knowledge" i gained, i felt that before the show even started, that i had already witnessed it; that i had already experienced it before it began - because i knew EXACTLY how it was going to turn out before it even started. that all leads up to this: i propose that, after the 1st show and unless there is a major deviation within a set as the tour goes on, that we all try to refrain from posting setlists and giving a song-by-song review of a concert that we might take in. i honestly feel that it will better our experience of/at any show(s) we take in. kick around your thoughts on this... best, rich __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I have to say I agree with you. If Sting did his tour more like Bruce Springsteen, when you can go 3 nights in a row and practically see 3 different concerts!, then I would like to see setlists posted everynight. But with Sting it seemed like towards the end of the last tour, people were getting mad because he wasnt changing it up and then once you got to the show it was ho hum I already know what is coming next. Hi All, After spending my hard earned yen on the Japanese release I wanted to say a couple of things and see if anybody wanted to talk about the new CD. First, it sucks that this is indeed the fifth major Sting release in a row where the American release has been with fewer tracks and released later then in other nice countries. Like a Beautiful Smile is a great track. It belongs on the American release for sure. In the old days, when Sting CD-singles were prevalent here in the US, I could see some sort of logic in holding a song or two back to get people to buy the single. I have a whole closet full of cd-singles for this very reason. But here in the US really the only single released for BND was Desert Rose and that didn't include the non-us track of End of the Game. What's the deal with that? Secondly, I think sacred love is a fine cd. Why put Like a beautiful smile behind that terrible Dave Aude remix on the international release and behind the All This Time version of Shape of My Heart. The CD doesn't flow at the end because of the track sequence. I am really suprised after how all this time sounded that Sting chose to make an album that was so heavily produced. I think that the lyrics of Stolen Car are classic Sting, but the music is thick and soupy. I think the live version of the song is much better. Couple of predictions. Whenever I say your name will be huge on adult radio. If it crosses over it will be the prom song of choice in 2004 :). If there are no more studio tracks in the can then my bet is that tracks from the DVD will be the b-sides to future singles.
