Several years ago, I had a dream about a new Sting album I stumbled unto in the store. The album was called "The Book Of My Life." I kid you not. I've had this title in mind for years. The album was sort of a Ten Summoner's Tales album, only the songs wouldn't be tales, they would be chapters from Sting's life and the whole album would be a progression from birth to death. Well this dream has become reality and Sting has now written a song called "The Book Of My Life." This one is a standout for me on the album. The melody is so simple yet so haunting. And the lyrics are some of Sting's most beautiful. I'd say the best lyrics since The Soul Cages. I'm just memorized when I listen to that song, and the part where he goes "All these pages are burning and all that's left is YOUUUUUUUU...." just sends shivers down my spine. This one is a masterpiece. I just hope it doesn't get overlooked live and all of you going to Paris get to hear it. Cheers, Fred

Awesome New Andy Summers CD a Must for Police Fans

Hi everyone, I highly recommend Andy Summers' amazing new CD, Earth + Sky. You don't have to have followed Andy's career since the Police to enjoy this one. While Earth + Sky does contain elements of his previous solo albums, as well as his collaborations with Robert Fripp, more than any of his other CDs, Earth + Sky features generous helpings of Andy's classic Police sound. In fact, much of the album specifically brings to my mind Andy's Police-era instrumentals, most notably Shambelle, as well as the instrumentation for Friends and Someone to Talk To. In terms of the Robert Fripp duets, I can distinctly hear passages and structures reminiscent of Parade and What Kind of Man Reads Playboy (both from the predominantly Andy-flavored Bewitched) in there. Sting's unequaled talent as a songwriter and tunesmith is undeniable, but Earth + Sky is definitive evidence that the sonic stamp of The Police would not have existed without the musicianship of Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. Don't get me wrong. While Andy's Police style and sound is prevalent here, he takes that style and sound in exciting new directions, resulting in a magical, ethereal and supernatural mixture of instrumental jazz, pop and rock. And the lineup of musicians backing Andy on this outing is simply stellar: Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Abraham Laboriel on bass, John Beasley and John Novello on keyboards, and Katisse Buckingham on saxophone. Sacred Love

Ok, after a terrifying weekend -my 1st SACD got smashed under my dvd player, and the 2nd was damaged in the post, so bye bye CD- I rely on my MiniDisc to walk around in Athens suburbs, enjoying Sting's newborn. For those still doubting, it is a good one, apart from some minor useless songs (why the hell remaking MOBS ....), and they have a vibe which will become only stronger during the live performances. My favourite ones are ... never coming home and this war ... real pieces of art ... For those attending the Paris gig, have a great time and looking forward to your reviews. Cheers, Karel

For all those having no tickets, you can buy them super cheap at FNAC shops in France, we do not know how many are available but Celine (thanks for having told us), a French Fan, was able to buy for less than 65 euros yesterday. As a long time member of Outlandos who never got any advance tickets or other concert perks before as a member, I was really excited to hear that we on this side of the pond were going to finally get to order tickets ahead of time. However, the first attempt at this, the NYC show, seems to have had more than its fair share of problems. Many people on the Sting.com boards are saying that they did not get notification and otherwise were not aware of the tickets being put up for sale. To add insult to injury, Sting.com and ticketmaster are offering 1680 of the GA floor tickets (coupled with a fan club membership, that many of us already have paid for) to the highest bidder with a minimum starting bid of 50.00. If you are already a member of the fan club and have paid 65.00 (or 35.00 in my case) then cannot get tickets for the base price of 48.50 (the price for fan club members at the presale) because they had sold out the fan club allotment before many of us were even aware that they were up for sale, I think that there is some justification for disappointment. I would not be as upset with the situation if the tickets were all sold and there were no more available, but with 1680 tickets still available, it makes me wonder how many were available to begin with. The Hammerstein "seats" about 3,000 (I think) so if 1,680 are available that means that the max number of fan club tickets initially available would be approximately 1,320. The actual number is likely much less than this since there are likely a lot of tickets that have been held for VIPs, radio, family and friends. I guess the point is in the future, I am hoping that we get more advance notification and all of us have the opportunity to be able to take advantage of the fact that we are members of the fan club and can get presale tickets. I like the people involved with Outlandos and am hoping that this is all just some of the natural problems that can be associated with a new format and that some of these problems will be resolved before he tours in the beginning of next year.
