Hi Anne, I know just what you are saying, I am from an extremely small town in Nevada, I now live in Reno, but I went to great lengths to see Sting at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, in '85, my parents had the only resturant in town and I was a really crappy waitress, but I saved all my tips and bought new tires for my friend's car, and we drove down there. I bought some roses from a street vendor that smelled very badly of tuna fish and I gave 20.00 to a girl in front of me, I don't know why, I thought I would have a better chance of getting closer, but it was general admission and anyway, my best-friend and I weren't close to the stage, but when he walked out, and please don't think I'm retarded, but it was like the hand of God pushed my friend and I through the crowd and we were right on the barrier, and I threw my fishy smelling roses at Sting and they hit him in the leg. No big deal there, but Branford came up later and Sting was right next to him and I did get to reach up and touch Sting's shoe and he was wearing Reebox and I screamed that I loved him with tears coarsing down my face. Very attractive I am sure. Anyway, that's my big Sting story. Thanks, Susy

A question to lighten the tensions...

Now that this "fan" issue has sparked such passion in everyone, here's something to lighten up the intense feelings we're all reading (and we'll hopefully provide some comedic relief for a while...) Q: What would you do to get ONE ticket in the first 10 rows of the RRHofFame on March 10, 2002??? Your answer can't involve money or who you know... A: Mine--- I guess I'd have to do the baloney spanks on the butt by Howard Stern. I saw that one time and couldn't imagine how anyone could stoop that low to see anyone, but HERE I AM---Come and get me Howard!!!! Not only is it a ridiculous thing to do, you'd have to suffer the wrath of being teased by Howard. Michelle

Weird things ran through my head in a matter of seconds and by the time I turned around to face my fear (them thinking I'm a groupie, them thinking I'm a weirdo for going to all these shows, etc., etc.), they were on their merry way. I then didn't want to walk after them like a stalker. I've kicked myself ever since then and the only thing that saved me was Sting... The show was amazing and at the end, I got a handshake from Sting and a direct "Thank you for coming" from him. In my own little mind I have to think he noticed that I had been in the front for the past two shows and was actually thanking me for making the effort to come to all three. Fat chance, but let me believe that! So although I wish I had talked with Kipper and Chris, things turned out just fine and I was happy I made the effort and blew my family off for yet another show. If it hadn't turned out that way (didn't get in, didn't bump into K & C--- nothing! I'd be singing a different tune (traffic up to Maine was going 25 mph at times and I thought I'd miss the show ... just not a good journey up there). Pretty sad that just getting a decent spot for the show and a simple gesture makes my year, but it did! Guess I'm pretty easy to please. Yes, it's good to take the chance if you have the time/money to take lots of chances, but if you only have one shot, it'd be an awful big letdown to come away with nothing. I would have been mortified to go to Italy and be turned away at the gate! I also don't have the kahuna's to stand there expecting to be let in, so if you do ... more power to you!!! (not you in particular, but the general "fandom"). I'm right there with you if they do NYC... I doubt they'd be playing Austin, TX. Michelle

REAL fan?

Sorry if I am joing this discussion lat, but I do have strong feelings on this topic. I believe I am a "real" Sting/Police fan. I was too young to see the Police perform before they broke up and have only had the opportunity to see Sting twice. I would have to say that all the people who can jet-set all over the globe, to Italy for instance, on the chance that they might be able to get into the Tuscany show may not have a realistic concept of the financial situation for others, for example someone who a trip to Italy would be a once in a lifetime experience. Not that I'm faulting them. If I had the money, I might do the same thing. More power to them. But to say that they are more real a fan than someone else simply because they can afford to travel is unfair and slightly insulting. That being said, good luck to everyone who will try to get into the RRHOF concert. Please post reviews so we can live vicariously through you. Yeah Ross, I'm jealous as hell too. KIM

Just understand the plight and feelings of the "little people" on the list. I look forward to reports of all who attend, just don't tell us we suck because we didn't TRY to get there. (I'm not saying this in a vicious way, things don't come across well in emails!) Be happy! We're going to see THE POLICE either in person, on VH1 or by sneaking in under someone's coat in March!
