A little tidbit from Billboard's daily on-line chart trivia: The Police are back on The Billboard 200, with their first chart entry in five years, and their highest-charting album since the 1986 release of "Every Breath You Take - The Singles," which peaked at No. 7. "The Very Best of... Sting & the Police" (A&M/Interscope) is new at No. 46. A similarly-titled collection peaked at No. 100 in December 1997. Sting's most recent appearance on this tally was with the live album "...All This Time," which went to No. 32 in December 2001. Maggie

Is it just me, or does the track "The Soul Cages" remind you of the "Devil went down to Georgia (by the Charlie Daniels Band)" song? song in movie

ELTSDIM is used in the movie trailer for the new JLo movie "Maid (Made??) in Manhattan." The studio actually wanted a U2 song, but whatever song it was, it's Bono's favorite and he didn't agree to let them use it. So ELT was chosen instead. I assume they got permission from Sting. The movie looks.....eh. I'm not a JLo fan, and Raphe (SP!) Finnes just doesn't look like a romantic lead to me. The movie looks a lot like Pretty Woman (there's even a scene where she gets "fixed up" for a formal occasion.) Stew interview tapes have gone out to most people who sent me their addresses. I think I have a couple more to do. If you wanted a copy and didn't send me your address, do so. You may want to wait a few days because it may be on its way to you. Maggie

Related to Sting: LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Derek Bell, the versatile musician best known for playing harp in the Chieftains, has died in Phoenix. He was 66. His death was announced Thursday. The cause and time of death were unknown at press time. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Bell was one of the world's most renowned interpreters of traditional Celtic music -- a fact recognized in 2000 when he was named a Member of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth. As a member of the Chieftains, whom he joined in 1972, Bell was honored with six Grammy awards. His skills on oboe, horn, cor anglais, hammer dulcimer, keyboards and other instruments were a key part in the success of the band's noteworthy collaborations with a wide range of artists, including 1988's "Irish Heartbeat," with Van Morrison; 1992's "Another Country," with stars like Willie Nelson; and 1995's "The Long Black Veil," with Mick Jagger, Sting and others. Bell also released a half-dozen solo albums and was a professor of harp at the Belfast Academy of Music. His death came as a shock, according to a statement released by the Chieftains. The band recently completed a concert and television taping to launch their latest album, "Down the Old Plank Road: The Nashville Sessions," and to celebrate the band's 40th anniversary. Bell chose to remain in the United States for what the band said was minor surgery and a routine physical examination. Bell had been given the all-clear by his doctors to return home to Ireland when he died. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his mother; and two sisters.
