hmmm, Are you sure that Rabbit In the Moon track samples Tori Amos? I think that track is too old to sample Tori, and I had always been under the impression that the samples were from Prince's "Graffiti Bridge". But I could be wrong. Jason P.S. not to pick a fight with -<(:: jason ::)>- here, but i disagree on the Entheogenic issue. you can read a whole review i wrote at: http://www.evilsponge.org/albums/Entheogenic__st.htm but i'll sum up for those of you too damned lazy to click on a link. (speaking of which, haven't heard from Thrash all day -- the little guy's depressed, someone go over there and make sure he's okay. remember -- pass out on your STOMACH, that way you sleep in the vomit but don't choke on it like Hendrix). okay, a review summary: did you like Enigma back when they were big? how about that Deep Forest hit with the pygmy samples? this is pretty much the same shit -- same kind of song structure, same types of beats. same reliance on a "world music" sample to carry the song. one exception though is the tune "Liquid Universe", which mixes up the genre by substituting Roni Size style beats behind the smooth world music collage. this is a damned fine tune. but, really, i don't understand the buzz this act is getting. really, i don't. and i have received at least 3 poorly translated into English emails from Eastern Europeans about this review. apparently, people in the Baltic States a. read my site b. like new agey dance music c. can't find it in stores d. don't get the generally negative tone of the review but really -- this music is unremarkable except for that one song. i don't get it..... Interesting little page I just stumbled across while trying to find some recordings of Shpongle at Glasto last weekend. I've been listening to a lot of NPR (National Public Radio) programming of late. The music stations in this city are crap and the batteries ran down on my discman. In the car I listened to a super long dj set by FSOL (12 hour show) which was really aggravating because the sound was shit. I've switched off from time to time to Amon Tobin stuff and my friend Highdropod (www.highdropod.com) and I listened to a bunch of Soft Cell (underated couple of fags) and some Ofra Haza and that's about it lately. Been working on the ambient set so most of my listening time is taken. Listen to the three attempts so far at takes for the album (which will be one take).
