No, I think people are slagging it, because it's a rather generic sub-par album that only has moments of greatness. Listen to U.F.Orb or Orbus Terrarum, they are genius all the way through. B&T (not counting From a Distance) is not a bad album per se, there just isn't much going on in a lot of the tracks. Many of the sounds sound like presets that haven't been altered in any way. Personally I was initially drawn to The Orb because the music contained so many sounds I had never heard before, so hearing a bunch of stock samples that anyone with a certain synth or sampler has access to is a big disappointment. Add to that the linearity of the tracks when The Orb has always been known for sonic complexity, it becomes hard not to evaluate The Orb as being over the hill creatively. Just because a community reaches a consensus doesn't mean we are blind sheep, in fact I think it indicates that we share a sensibility which is one of the hallmarks of a true community. I'm trying to record my live set so I've got my ambient album to sell at the Denver AL2k3 show. First complete run-through was tonight (with only one major fuck up the whole go). Thanks for whining (or was that whinging?) about your record sales, Thrash. I overdrafted my checking account and caught it in time thanks to ordering the cd! You'd better not send me a cracked cover or I'll be pissed off (for $23+ at least it's cheaper than the Jap B&T!). Welcome back, JC. Your rare record spotting abilities have been notably absent. In case no one has explained yet Thrash is moving to the South of France (the hoity toity bastard) to enjoy the cheap wine and cheap girls. Which town are you going to destroy, Kris? Marseille? Cannes? Nice? San Tropez? God I hate you you damned Limey. French women are the hottest in the world in my opinion and I DON'T FUCKING HAVE ONE! This week I am recording my "ambient" album to sell at the show in Denver. Anyone want to order one in advance? I'm thinking $10 + shipping. Something I was thinking, Thrash, is that you should've put 112kbps or 96kbps copies of the songs up for free download. That way there is just a hint of that annoying high end break-up to encourage people to get the full fidelity copy. It hasn't worked for me but it's worth a shot. ; ). Devo is still touring for real?!?! Those guys are fucking great. And Roxy Music as well?!?! I'm flabergasted and again upset to be living in this shithole town.
