Holly Cow, Went to work for 24 hours, came home, checked the list and ....You guys went-off on the "Geezer Thing"! lol Gary O. Jo and I are honored to be included in such an auspicious group...even though I'd like to tink that we barely qualify! (we are both 29 and holding you know!) To the new and aspiring members of the geezer clan....remember...a requirement (NOT A RULE as there are no rules!) of entry is that you get that Monty out and let her strut her stuff on the race course. Why? Cause any "true geezer" gets the biggest satisfaction from crossing the finish line in his/her M17, M15, or M23 and watching the faces of the "Sportboat crowd" as they do the math and figure out that Noahs Ark just kicked their butt on corrected time! (if not boat for boat). Does it manifest itself in a gloating, boastful display of poor sportsmanship?.....Nope.......Just and confident, classy, contented smile and gracious acceptance of congratulations from those who really understand and appreciate what a great boat and excellent sailing skills are all about. At least that's how I saw the two charter members of Team Geezer (Gary O and Jerry M.) do it. It was a beautiful thing to see! Sean and Jo M23 Dauntless

Requesting admission as well, fell off the boat in the parking lot of the Embarcadero Marina in Dana Point, Ca, was 26 or so at the time. The bottom line is an eye might feel more secure than the stock stem fitting arrangement. Given the fact that the standard set up is over the lip of the deck/hull join, it can be a bit of a worry point when cranking on the winch at some launch ramps (depending on how steep they are). I sometimes wonder if it's even more weight than the pressure of a loaded fore-stay when under sail in a heavy blow (they terminate at the same point). I too have wondered about drilling an eye through the hull for the purpose of hitching. Glad to see someone asking the question. If your trailer winch is located too low, a quick trip to a local trailer shop will take care of that. They can add a foot or more to the winch post, and that will provide you with a horizontal pull. I had a Trailrite trailer for my M15 - LEPPO, and never had a problem using the stem head fitting for the winch hook. Geezers,. I got the Handicapped Parking rear view mirror dingle thing (really). My daughter actually got it for my B-day a couple years back. Okay - If you think you are a geezer then so be it. Remember it IS a state of mind.You are only as Geezer as you think you are! I personally, will have no organized "Geezer Gaggles" it makes me want to gaggle! It is already getting a little weird, but hey we are all electronic + friends right. Remember Team Geezer Rule #1 - No Rules! (with appropriate earned- by- time- on- the- planet- emphasis!) Team Geezer Racing folk race. They race Boats, cars, bicycles, maybe cars ( but we usually have figured that gig out by this stage in life), but first and foremost - you gotta RACE. No posers wearing 'cool-guy t-shirts and / or hats', you gotta be the real deal or you are a FAKE GEEZER - how pathetic is that? We certainly have more earned dignity than being a poser. Be real old. Be real racer. Safety Tip of The Day: Especially for Old Racers. PS. In January the day before I raced with Sean, Jo and Dr. J (Wrinkle) I fell in the lake while stepping off the boat- hit the dock and the boat- 50 degree F. water up to me armpits and I could NOT pull myself out by myself. Thank whomever you like to have personal talks with (deity's name here), a Coastie Aux. and his wife were there- she said -after he assisted dragging my lame bod out- "Get his number - we will put it down saying we saved him. Where is his number?" Thank those folks Again. What was wrong - dipstick was NOT wearing his lifejacket. Dipstick was alone on boat and or near water (cold water) not wearing lifejacket. Hopefully Old guy dipstick learned a lesson one more time -lets repeat-----always wear your .............. Peace- Wear your Life jacket- Listen to 'Old & In the Way' and race something. I believe, that until you have been given a senior discount without asking, you cannot be a Geezer. Falling off a boat implies that you had enough energy to get on without help in the first place. Being a geezer is not for sissies. If you are one, ARISE and join the ranks. I believe that we should design a logo and go forward. John in Tucson
