Having spent time gazing up the cb trunk of 064, I have to think one would be able to discern any bulging in that area. Howard, I think that the problem is the rust on the board. It is substantial. But.....I haven't done any measuring up in the keel slot yet....Your questions makes me think I should. Possibly I will cut a block of wood to just shy of the width of the slot at the bottom. If I then attach it to a stick or something and pass it up or down in the slot it will let me know if there are narrow areas by binding up. Looking up there everything looks OK. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for giving methe idea. S

Got some new pics and updates on the www.havasumontgomerys.funtigo.com webpage for anyone that's interested. Finaly got the blasted keel completely out of and out from under the boat and also made some more progress on the rudder repair. Hope everyone's new year isstarting of great! Sean

As to the question asked , [ swim platform ] many ideas were given, as it were, it seemed to get some talk going on 'same'. ~ Ok , now this: Bill Riker --- I too am in Pgh, also in the south hills, N/Baldwin . Not far at all. Maybe someday we could get together for a look-see at your boat. I can't imagine that 'if' you sail at Moraine, i haven't seen your Montgomery there. Harvey from Ga. Refer to above and thanks for the hello ! Doug Keltch --- yes, yes, yes ! I would absolutely consider either a week end and/or a somewhat extended sailing trip on the chesapeake. { given time / and other considerations. } Thank you very much for asking, even tho a com-pac would be in the line up. I'll contact you off site. ~ Ida-rudder ! Sorry to hear some have had a problem with them. There must be some caveat to it . We, on the com-pacs, that have installed them swear by them and have listed NO problems other then they're sorry they haven't done so long ago. A zany proposal

A while back, there was a guy on my local radio station talking about a game he has recently gotten started in: Geocaching. In case you aren't familiar with it, it involves using a gps to locate "hidden treasure" that other people have stashed. The treasure isn't really treasure, it's usually just some small container with some cracker-jack type prizes. The fun is in the hunt. Anyway, I tried it out for the first time yesterday and was reading about the topic on the official geocaching page ( <http://www.geocaching.com/> http://www.geocaching.com/) and they also have these things called "travel bugs", little dog-tags that are picked up, taken to a different cache, and left for someone else to pick up. The travels are noted and recorded on the web so anyone can track it's path. Often, the travel bug has a specific goal, perhaps making a trip across country or across an ocean. So, that got me to thinking, what if there were such a game (if there isn't already) among the sailing fraternity, a small object which travels by sailboat from place to place, getting stashed until another sailor seeks it out and delivers it on it's way. After several unsuccessful bids on E-bay for a teak platform, I finally won a bid on a new polyethylene platform with a single step (starboard like material).
