I used to live in Beaumont Texas. The town sucks!!! I even graduated from College there. I always thought that it was funny about the names of the Chill Out CD. I also partied in Louisiana all the time. Why did they name all these tracks for Southern States especially Texas? Thanks for clearing that up, Donald! I was actually listening to "Circle of Salt" when I read your post! It IS a good song. Following in the same vein, is it also true that Pete Wylie did the vocals for the original grey-vinyl "It's Grim Up North"? John Not Scots, just Scott-ish.

I don't have the album in hand but here's the info from Lazlo's discography Pete Wylie And WAH! The Mongrel: Infamy! or "How I Didn't Get Where I Am Today" [1991] album CD: 1991 UK (Siren Records Ltd; CDSRN 33) ["Executive Production by The KLF"; tracks 4, 7-10 produced by Nick Coler/Ian Richardson/Pete Wylie] Track 4, "Circle of Salt" is the only one they produced. It has a similar sound to some of the WR demo tracks with the exception of the Wylie vocal. It would be interesting to get a hold of an instrumental version. Is there any way to separate the vocal in something like sound forge? One area of the KLF's recording career I've always been a bit shaky on is their involvement with Drummond's old mate Pete Wylie on his album "Infamy" (attributed to Pete and Wah! The Mongrel) in 1991. The KLF are mentioned on the sleeve, and also in the inlay case of Wylie's 2000 anthology the "Handy Wah Whole" (great title!) - but I'm not sure whether they were the album's producers, remixers, or merely hung around the studio. [OT] Scooter Strike Again (Weekend)

Hi all, So the latest single by Scooter is out, and I just saw the video. (Don't know if this is the same one Brendan referred to back in December on the list. If it is, then Foxtel in Oz got a very early release.) The song is called "Weekend!" Anyway, the KLF references are: - Subtitled "The Stadium Techno Experience" (but maybe that was just this show's label.) - Starts with opening horns, a la "America: What Time Is Love?" - Video starts with man in robes, a la A:WTIL? - Dancing on a "long boat" (but a small one compared to A:WTIL, which from memory was shot on the largest stage they have at Pinewood Studios.) - Helmeted drummer at back of boat looks similar to Bill and Jimmy in their "bucket helmets" from A:WTIL? - Women in robes, a la all the KLF's videos. Though in the version of the clip I saw had the women at least half-out of their robes most of the time. (I presume there is a censored clip available too.) - Final lines are "Respect to the men in the Ice cream van. Over and out." Now, I know it's very popular on this list to bag out Scooter, but I don't think this is totally deserved. They not trying to be a replacement for the KLF. They're just producing slightly better than average techno dance tracks, that let's face it, sell very well and they're probably doing quite nicely for themselves. They obviously see the KLF as an influence in their past, and they enjoying putting little coded messages in their songs and videos that allude to this. 99% of people on the dance floor today won't get these references, but we do and we enjoy spotting them even if we don't particularly go for their music.
