Congratulations on a great start! Now you can start posting
all the rest of the fractals that exist... ;-)
Thanks for all the great images -- and the cats!
I've really enjoyed "looking around" inside your fractals a lot.

FOTD -- March 16, 2014 (Rating A-7,M-7)
Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image lies in a parent Mandelbrot set that has been
corrupted not only in its depths but also on its surface by
Z^(0.99) energies. This parent is shaped like a featureless
empty circle, with a little bit of Mandelbrot stuff on its
western edge. A large bud that is beginning to split apart lies
on this western edge, with two fractalized main spikes extending
out eastward from the bud. Today's scene lies in some debris
between the two spikes, just east of the two large minibrots.
The name "A Negative Outlook" does not refer to an evening in a
now vanished old-style photo lab, surrounded by trays of
dangerous chemicals, nor does it imply a negative world view.
It refers to the location of today's scene on the negative
X-axis of the parent fractal.
I decoded to rate both the art and math aspects of today's image
at a 7. They are both at least a little above average.
The calculation time of one minute is fast enough to make a trip
to the web sites not absolutely necessary, but the web sites are
always there to make life easier.
Save a bit of time anyway by checking the finished image at:

Increasing clouds and a temperature of 34F +1C made today seem
like a return to midwinter here at Fractal Central. Fractal cat
Nicholas is becoming impatient for spring to arrive, while
Jasmine is becoming even more impatient to get her collar off
and get out of her room. She has only one more day to wait.
The fractal humans made it through the day with a minimum of
distractions.
The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours give or take a few.
Until then, take care, and on a recent evening, while I was busy
complaining about something, FL told me to stop complaining, so
she could watch the squabbling on the TV romance show without
being distracted by my squabbling. Women are probably a bigger
mystery than the quantum measurement problem.

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image is a scene at the edge of the fractalized main
spike of a Mandelbrot set corrupted by Z^(4.005) energies. It
lies just beyond the large minibrot.
The image owes its unusual effect to the 'FMOD' outside fill,
which creates the striking cusps and arcs of color. The obvious
discontinuities are created by the fractional exponent of Z.
The name "This is a Fractal" is a bit nihilistic, saying nothing
at all about the image.
The art and math both rate a 7, since in my opinion they are
notably above average.
The calculation time of only one minute means that little time
will have been wasted if the image fails to live up to the
expectations I have created.
As always, visiting the the web sites will eliminate the need of
calculating the image.

Partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 52F 11C made today
rather pleasant here at Fractal Central. Only a blustery wind
kept the day from being ideal for the ides of March. Fractal
cat Nico spent most of the time stretched out on the southwest
shelf. Fractal cat Jazzy spent the day in her recovery room,
very anxious to get the collar off her neck and escape from her
room. Luckily, she has only two more days to go. The fractal
humans had a day apart. FL spent the day visiting an old friend
in Baltimore, while I stayed behind and spent the day getting
caught up on various human things.
The next FOTD will be posted in the very near future. Until
then, take care, and where did science go wrong?

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image is a dive into yesterday's image, where we find
that the butterflies are not at all as elusive as they appeared
24 hours ago. In fact, it took very little time to turn up
today's scene, which lies along the X-axis of yesterday's
fractal and shows an order-7 minibrot surrounded by no less than
seven butterflies. The name "Seven Butterflies" was obvious.
The art and math ratings of 7 and 6 are little changed from
yesterday, which is no big surprise. The color palette is
largely picked up from yesterday's image, with only a bit of
tweaking. The calculation time of a little below three minutes
will pass swiftly enough, and may be eliminated entirely by
checking the web sites.
The finished image is posted online at:

Today began cloudy and dreary here at Fractal Central, but the
clouds cleared away at lunch time, leading to a very pleasant
sunny afternoon with a temperature of 50F 10C. The mature
fractal cat spent the afternoon sunning himself on the window
shelf, while the fractal kitten spent the day in her room, still
recovering from her talk with the doctor. Thankfully, she has
only three more days of confinement to get through. The fractal
humans made it through the day with nothing happening that was
worth mentioning, that is unless one considers paying a pile of
bills worth mentioning.
The next FOTD fractal will be posted in 24 hours, with a
probability of 80 percent. Until then, take care, and I hear
that the flood of technological gadgets is causing some big
problems among younger people. I guess we need to come up with
more and better gadgets to solve the problems.

Albrecht,
You asked for my observations on the color maps used
in your MOTD images for March 3, 2014. I liked the
brass-like colors in your 70100-10.GIF fractal
"Prayer_to_the_Moon" quite a bit.
The fractal itself looks (to me) like a brass scepter
with tiny, tiny precious stones -- and a few pearls --
embedded in the brass all over it. The background
behind the scepter is variegated in a nice way, and
seems a bit like a piece of parchment. A very
nice image! Here's its color map in Raymond
Filiatreault's FintMap program:
http://tinyurl.com/Prayer-to-the-moon-Color-map
or:
http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/Albrecht/MFR12/M70100-10_Prayer-to-the-moon_
Color-map.jpg
The color map for 70105-16.GIF is very strange!
It has both single colors scattered around the
color map -- within an large black area of color
definitions -- with the other half of the map
being a repeating pattern of every other color
being defined as: dark gray, then light gray.
Here's its odd color map screen captured from
the "e" color editor:
http://tinyurl.com/Newton-Secant-ManyMods-Strange
or:
http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/Albrecht/MFR12/M70105-16_Newton-Secant-ManyM
ods_Strange_Color-map2.jpg
I discovered a trick today that I hadn't realized
you could do with the "e" color editor. After
"r"estoring your 70100-10 image I had downloaded,
I used the editor's "x" option.
Previously I had used the arrow keys to look around
in an image (in the "X" mode) to see where a
feature's colors were located in the color map
table -- and what their numerical R, G, & B values
were.
Today I discovered that, since I have a DOS mouse
driver installed in the DOS ntvdm.exe environment,
in the "X" mode I can "mouse around" both over
the image *or* inside the color map table of colors,
and the entire fractal will be black except for
the particular color that the cursor is over in
the color map table. Moving the cursor around
inside the color map is very instructive, as it
very clearly shows exactly what colors are where
in the fractal.
While in the "X" mode, all the colors in the table
are all black except for the one you are hovering
the cursor over, but you can get the context of
where you are in the color map by hitting the "x"
key to restore the map and fractal -- and then
hitting it again to return to your investigations
of the fractal's color's locations.

HI,

this continues yesterday´s MOTD

Today´s first one adds Manymods with an

Give in-adapt-take over I called the

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's image lies on the main negative spike of its parent
Mandelbrot set, which is corrupted in its depths by Z^7
energies. It is located just east of the large minibrot.
I named the image "Elusive Butterfly" when it reminded me of a
butterfly, a colorful insect that many years ago my grandfather
called a flutterby.
The image actually shows a center of anti-bifurcation, where the
number of elements is cut in half as the center is approached,
and instead of a bottomless minibrot, a peak lies at the center.
Thanks to the brilliant coloring, the art aspect of the image
rates an 8. The math aspect still has enough originality to be
worth a rating of a 7.
The calculation time of 2-2/3 minutes borders on slowness, but
luckily the official FOTD web site is again up and running along
with the other FOTD sites.
The finished image is posted on the FOTD web sites at:

We had lots of sun here at Fractal Central today, but when the
day dawned with a temperature of 12F -11C and high winds, it
hardly felt like a spring morning. The afternoon high of 27F
-3C brought but a little improvement. Fractal cat Nicholas took
advantage of the brilliant sun on the southwest shelf, while
Jasmine continued her recovery in her private room. The fractal
humans had another near-average day.
The next FOTD will probably be posted in 24 hours, as most
FOTD's are. Until the next time, take care, and until man
uncovers and accepts the mysteries of the universe, he will
never solve his most stubborn problems.
