AndyFarnsworth is a comic, writer, and the host of what's your yarnworth? with Andy Farnsworth, a documentary podcast about the lives ofinteresting people in and around New York City. Please follow him on twitter.He has performed all over the US, England, and has been nominated for aPushcart Prize for his story “Five Minutes of Material.” As a comic, he onceopened for Doug Stanhope and Andy’s girlfriend at the time sat in the front rowwith two of her friends and heckled him. She was on drugs which was probablywhat led to the heckling, but still it remains a formative event from which hestill hasn’t totally recovered. Perhaps—a word not usually acceptable in thevernacular of standup—it is appropriate that his standup has been described as"a fun meltdown." What’s weird is that they still didn’t break up foranother couple months, him and the heckler girlfriend. She wasn’t a bad person.We all struggle with our demons. Andy included. But, one of his demons happensto be not knowing when to part with other people’s demons. (This may or may notbe important, but he is a PhD candidate in Literature and Creative Writing atthe University of Utah, but has been on a leave of absence for a very longtime. Left to introducer’s discretion whether or not this part is read.) Inconclusion: he finds that bios are tricky in that they can either be an outloud ego-stroking resume-type-thing that people either yawn and/or roll theireyes through. Or when they attempt to be funny or cryptic they end up fallingflat and then Andy Farnsworth blames the person who read his bio for itsfailure. Like the whole time he’s reading or performing he blames the personintroducing him and can’t really focus on his material. In double conclusion:As the person reading this bio, I [insert name here (please read phrase “insertname here” then say your name—also read phrase “‘insert name here then say yourname’”] apologize for any and all deficiencies, and ad libbing I may have attemptedin introducing Andy. This event is free and open to thepublic. Danielle Beazer Dubrasky’s poetry has been published in Salt Front, Contrary Magazine, Quill&Parchment, Sugar House Review and by Red Butte Press. Her chapbook “Ruin andLight” won the 2014 Anabiosis Press Chapbook Competition. She has been afinalist for White Pines Press, a semi-finalist for Backwaters Press and ElixirPress, and a fellow at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. She is also a twotime recipient of the Utah Arts Council first place award in poetry. She is thepoetry editor for Contemporary RuralSocial Work journal and has developed a curriculum of poetry writingexercises to be used in poetry therapy groups. An associate professor ofCreative Writing at Southern Utah University, Danielle is also the director ofthe SUU Tanner Center. She grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, but has spentthe last 20 years in southern Utah. If TwinPeaks can reboot, then Kelly KathleenFerguson might yet be a grunge superstar. She is the author of MyLife as Laura: How I Searched for Laura Ingalls Wilder and Found Myself. Gino Sky will read from their works on Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Library as part of the City Art ReadingSeries. This event is free and open to the public. Gino Sky is the author oftwelve books of poetry and short stories. His best known novel, Appaloosa Rising: The Legend Of The Cowboy Buddha, has been a cultnovel since its publication in 1980. During the Sixties, he co-edited aliterary magazine, Wild Dog, which publishedsuch writers as Allen Ginsberg, Diane DiPrima, Gary Snyder, Robert Creeley,Denise Levertov, Diane Wakoski, Richard Brautigan, Rosalie Sorrels, AmiriBaraka, and many more from the "Beat" and "Sixties" periodof American Letters. Wild Dog was considered by The New York Public Library as one of thefinest underground mimeo magazines from that period. He worked in the CivilRights Movement including The Grape Pickers Strike with Cesar Chavez in Delano,California. His latest published book, Wild Dog Days, (Limberlost Press)is the history/story of Wild Dog, along with ahealing poem for the Vietnam War. He currently lives in Salt Lake City with hiswife, Barbara Jensen Sky, where he writes, draws, gardens, and maintains awoodworking shop. Teacher,polyartist, sonosopher, and scholar of humanities and inter-media, Alex Caldiero is a powerful poet andperformer. Heis a maker of text-sound and visual works, installations, and publications,including SoundWeavewith ThetaNaught (Differential Records), Body/Dreams/Organs (Elik Press), Poetry Is Wanted Here! (Dream Garden Press), Some Love (Signature Books), Sonosuono (Elik Press), and Who is the Dancer/What is the Dance (saltfront).Raised in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY,he attended Queens College in Flushing, NY, and apprenticed to thesculptor-poet Michael Lekakis and the poet-bard Ignaziu Buttitta. Ogden’s Poet Laureate Brad Roghaar and fiction writer Ryan Ridge willread from their works on Wednesday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt LakeCity Public Library as part of the City Art Reading Series. This event is freeand open to the public. Brad Roghaar was named Ogden’s Poet Laureate in fall of 2016. Roghaar has instructed literature and writingat Weber State for the last thirty years. He has published one book of poetry titled Unraveling the Knot and isjust finishing up a second book titled Standof Aspen: Places of Healing. He is also currently writing the script— a"cinepoem"—for a film on wild horses in Utah. As if these projectsweren’t enough, he also serves on the editorial board for Rough Draft, is thefaculty advisor for Metaphor, and is the editor for Weber Studies. He was also Utah State Poet of the Yearin 1991, has served on the committee to select a state poet laureate and wasthe Utah Poetry Society Poet Laureate of 1992. RYANRIDGE holds a BA in English from the University of Louisville andan MFA in Fiction from the University of California, Irvine, where he was therecipient of the MacDonald Harris prize for fiction. He is the author offour books, including American Homes (Universityof Michigan Press, 2014), which was the Michigan Library Publishing Club’sinaugural book club pick. His fiction and essays have appeared inSantaMonica Review, Mississippi Review, Potomac Review, LosAngeles Review, Lumina, NERVE,DIAGRAM, PassagesNorth, Salt Hill, and elsewhere. Ridge received the 2016Italo Calvino Prize in Fabulist Fiction judged by Jonathan Lethem.
