<< And last but not least, I'd like to know your opinion on Zorn's album "Weird Little Boy" on Avant (which has probably been discussed one thousand times before, >> hola estimado efrén, i didnt understand the accolades many of my friends gave to bittovas singing or violin. i only heard a bit of her bartok but it didnt make me want to replace the versions i have. i think she's another 'personality' - often women- who people tend to like for reasons extramusical. weird little boy is a weird little album. i confess i bought it solely because it had a story written by one of my favorite writers, dennis cooper, whose work usually explores the extremes of the point where youth, homosexuality and violence (death & s&M) intersect. to me, cooper is as disturbing and as powerful as jean genet. here, the homosexuality is only implied, with girls thrown in the mix, and the themes of youth and violence are also strong but implied rather than explicit. here, the music is definitely interesting, but incoherent: it's a collage. starts with a sample of the drums from "leader of the pack" and then goes all over the place. it doesnt seem to follow texts (in a cartoon-like booklet) in any particular way. for those who like weird little boy, the artist, gay & hiv-activist david wojnarowicz, whose art installations, biography, and writings moved me deeply. has a disc of reading his texts with ben neill on new tone that i like a lot. steve koenig n.p.: "ambient intimacy vol5" - eetapes et80- excellent anthology: nonvapid n.r.: eminent maricones by jaime manrique (univ. of wisconsin press)

Hi Y'all ...And especially William C. great to finally mix with you here on the list. Actually my digest was about 12 hours later than usual and I thought the curse against my membership had gotten weirder. As per your questions. Eye maybe whooped once or twice, but only in the Glen Gould sense, no top-tastic vocals as such. John Cale played with a second keyboard player.(read stooge, could've been a backing tape and been "honest" like Brittany!) He played viola for the opening number,switched to a" who gives a fuck" type electric piano that could also have been a synth and done your clothes wash - for all I know. Cheers David H ps I noticed that my post came up with a bunch of "=" signs for every carriage return (and doubtless so has this) anyone give me the idiot guide to making this more legible? I'm a Bill Gates slave if that makes a diff. Over and Out!!
