For those who might consider going to the Tintic High School. I've driven through it a good number of times returning from Great Basin over the years. From Salt Lake, take Hwy 6 off of I-15 into Santaquin and continue West until you reach the outskirts of Eureka. Tintic H.S. will be on the North (passenger) side of the road.It is huge and very modern and hard-to-miss. Large parking lot area. Also, the last time I drove through Eureka in September there's a new Deli on the very far (West) side of town. There is a Sinclair gas station midway from the school and deli should anyone need gas. If you can't make the trip back to Salt Lake that night, you'll need to return to Santaquin for a place to lay your head down. Tom Sevcik

Juno to pass overhead

As bad luck would have it tomorrow morning's close (350 km) flyby of Earth of the Juno spacecraft will not be visible from Utah. However, it will be above our horizon the morning of the 10th (UT). While the weather at that time is not forecast to be good folks might want to be watching with their scopes just in case. And there's the additional fact that by the time it rises it'll already be nearly as far away as the Moon so I doubt anyone in these parts will see it. But, hey, if we don't try it's certain we will not see it. Here are data from NASA/JPL's Horizons website calculated for my observatory but probably good for much of this region. Solar party for the Foothill Elementary?

Sieg can be reached at siegfried(a)jachmann.org. patrick Is there anyone else interested in doing a solar party for the Foothill Elementary School tomorrow. We would start around Noon. The time could be changed if needed. We did this last year and it was as much fun as the nighttime star party... and warmer.
