Ok, my kids are teens and one of the stations they listen to is 101.9 The Edge. While, I had to listen to that station today to help them win tickets for a concert on Saturday night (glad we have a Star Party at SPOC!). Anyway while listening to their site online earlier today they have advertised that they are giving away a 10x10 are of the sky. To see what I mean go to this website and go to the gallery. http://www.darkskymurals.com/dsm/index.php I thought if you had an observatory you could do the top of the observatory and that way always have clear skies! In reality I'm sure since they don't list prices they are expensive (I am not associated with them in any form) but I really like the image it created on the beams on the roof. Kinda of cool I thought. Houston has given a go on weather for launch and for emergency landing so Endeavor should take off around 4:03p.m. or so I believe (might be wrong on the time). So if you have the NASA station on your TV you may want to watch around 4:00p.m. I guess we could add this to no rings, no moons, etc in terms of Endeavor not getting off due to weather. They just announced Endeavor is a go for launch.

Craig, Welcome. I only know of Inkley's and Clark. I'll let others respond who will know more. The closest shop so to speak of that I know of is Scope City in Las Vegas. AMA Resolution on Light Pollution

I don't recall if Patrick covered this in the news, but last month the American Medical Association passed a resolution "Advocating and Support for Light Pollution Control Efforts and Glare Reduction for Both Public Safety and Energy Savings". The pertinent medical and safety justifications for the AMA's position is quoted below. (The footnotes do not appear to match up with their propositions, but citations to the all supporting evidence seems to be there. See the link to the full resolution.) With a "lead-stream" group like the AMA taking a stand, it's a good sign on the LP issue front. LCROSS: Current revised target candidate list

Reposted from the LCROSS Observation group. Note there are a onging revised list of _possible_ candidates. Final selection depends on LRO Mini-RF investigation of the south pole over July and August. Final announcement of the selected candidate crater is not scheduled until Sept. 9. This is a _provisional_ list and will mostly likely change as the best target is refined. Thanks DT! You beat me to that info. I will say though that though it may happen roughly 25 times a century, location plays a part. In 2008 you had to be in Europe or Africa for the best viewing and as Kelly Beaty states, the east coast of the US IF you are in the right location. So I would image though they may happen 25 times in this century, I may only have 3 or so opportunities to witness such an event so barring bad weather (which this year is no promise) I intend to see it even if it means traveling south.
