If you have to use an MTU setting, I set it to 1500. On my own, I just setup my radius so it doesn't send MTU at all and it works fine. Glad to hear you got it working. Thanks much for the suggestion Joel, it was an MTU setting. There was a default MTU setting of 576 in my freeradius config, been there for years probably. Changed it to 1500 and got through to those websites right away. Is there a "recommended" MTU setting that my radius server should be pushing out, or should I not bother setting an MTU attribute at all? Funniest part was I came to the same conclusion and was coming on to post my results when your message came in. Tested with my old WinME notebook and it worked fine and then tested with my XP notebook no-go and MTU snapped into my mind. Most of our customers are older folks with older PC's... 95, 98... that's probably why we have not seen any issues. Every one of the problem clients are on XP though. The puzzling part is why this cropped up at virtually the same time on different websites for all of these folks. Another (slight) possibility - do a "mon rad" and look at the response from your radius server. See if there's anything unusual being set by the radius server. Is your radius server sending back an MTU setting? Usually, if you're radius is sending back an MTU setting it will mess up most everything rather than just a few web sites. But it's a possibility. One thing I've noticed - Windows ME seems to completely ignore any MTU setting the TC tries to force on it. Therefore it will work perfectly. But then you get a customer that gets a new machine with XP, and all of a sudden the MTU setting starts messing with it. Just a thought. Total Control Blowout AGAIN!!

Hello List, once again we have several fully loaded Hiper DSP chassis that we want to move. In the past we posted them so cheap because we were moving to a new location and didn't want to have to move them to the new site. We appreciate the people that helped us out by picking up a few units. Now we are at our new site that is much larger and still don't have any room for them. We have moved off into the DSL world and have overloaded our warehouse with Westell and Efficient DSL modems. So, we would really love to move the Total Control Chassis out of here. We have around 30 fully loaded chassis in stock. Asking $450.00 each. That's cheap!! Gotta be worth the money just for the spare power supplies. Odd dialup issue...

Hoping someone may have experienced something similar and can offer some pointers. We currently have a single PRI connected to our chassis HiPer DSP, HiPer ARC, HiPer NMC. No configuration changes have been made to the setup in 6 to 9 months. No filtering or any such is in place. I had 3 customers call in today saying that for the past 2 or 3 days they are having problems accessing several different websites (www.scotiabank.com, www.cibc.com, www.globeandmail.com are a few examples). Not browser timeouts/errors... the web browser just sits there forever. They do successfully resolve the correct DNS for the websites in question, other websites work perfectly fine. Seemed really odd, I can get to those websites from a computer on our LAN with no problem. Just yanked the network cable on that workstation and tried dialling in and am able to reproduce the problem exactly as the customers describe (even though the same workstation works just fine when connected via LAN). I have tried but cannot successfully ping or traceroute to these websites, this doesn't concern me terribly since on LAN, my home DSL or dialup they all die at consistant locations, so I'm assuming they are hitting a firewall at that point or somesuch. The IP pool used for clients is a separate subnet from that which is assigned for my dialup access (my IP is on the same subnet as the NMC and ARC, and the LAN interface to which the workstation was connected) from that I can assume that it isn't an upstream routing issue on the customer subnet since I reproduce using my account. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated, I'm completely puzzled on this one. Cheers, >>>>> Mike <<<<<

Adding VSA's / vendor dictionary to TC S/A server

Hello, I am new to the list and TC S/A Server. I am working with a small ISP who is also new to TC S/A Server. I am running version 6.0.90 under XP for testing. I would like to add a small vendor dictionary so that I can add a reply item to selected users' profiles. According to the help file, the server supports VSA's but I cannot find any additional documentation that explains this. I do not have access to the hardware but I do have the TC S/A Server loaded and running. The version that comes up when I run the Security and Accounting Database Manager is V6.0.90 . So far, I have edited dictnry.dat to include the necessary VSA's. When I view the logs from the server interface, it appears as though the new dictionary items are being correctly loaded. When I use a radius client such as NTRadping to test authentication and send the server accounting data, it seems to work. I cannot verify this because I cannot find out where the actual accounting data is stored. Questions: 1. How do I add a new vendor dictionary to TC S/A server? 2. How do I add the necessary reply item to the user profile? If anyone can provide some information about this or point me to some documentation, I would appreciate it. Thanks, David

Any of you Gurus have time to put together a small "what is" list for these undocumented commands? Specifically, does anyone know the use and effect of _cleanup. Does that clean up any 3rd party files such as filters or does it simply reallocate spent memory/space? TC configuration

Hi All I have just acquired a USR enterprise network hub with 1x nmc card 1x 3com hiper access card 15x 3com quad modems... I have managed to put the box on my network. The problem is if I do list interfaces my modems are appearing like this INTERFACES Interface Oper Admin Name Status Status eth:1 Up Up eth:2 Down Up internal Up Up loopback Up Up slot:1/mod:1 Down Up slot:1/mod:2 Down Up slot:1/mod:3 Down Up slot:1/mod:4 Down Up slot:2/mod:1 Down Up slot:2/mod:2 Down Up for all the modems. I am pretty sure I have missed something in the configuration or modem initialization. Any help is much appreciated. If anyone can also help me with good manuals/documentation for these things regards Gerald

OSPF and send policies

My OSPF setup works but I wonder what not having a remote source setup as listed by the following will have if any.
