Having trouble with Macintosh modems

Has anyone seen any problems related to Mac's? I am having a real problem with Mac's connecting. I recently upgraded from 4 port cards to HiperDSP-24's. Thats when the problem started. I read of a old problem in the archives related to this, old TC rack rev's worked fine and when upgrading to newer rev's, Mac's had trouble connecting. It was a known problem with the rack software. Did it ever get resolved? My mac users have to dial in 3 or 4 times before they will stay on. This is driving me nuts! My software revs are: HioerDSP: 3.5.109 HiperARC: 5.3.3 NMC: 7.1.0 Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards Doug P

Best routing solution for HiperArcs

We just upgraded all of our Hubs to v.92 (3.5.109/5.3.3/8.6.3) I know OSPF is a little flakey and I want to know if someone has some working configs for RIP. We have 2 class c addressess 208.128.xx.xx (CORE) and 206.154.xx.xx (Modem pools) We run a Cisco 3640 router with 2 T-1 interfaces to the backbone. The reason for the question, is that I noticed yesterday that our ping times to our dialup clients is higher (old times 48 -80ms) up to (120 - 200ms) Not sure if it is the new code or if it is a routing issue... ANy help/advice appreciated! Quad to DSP upgrade...

Hi All, Hoping some of you long-time Total Control'ers can point me in the right direction. We have a "middle-aged" Total Control chassis containing a Dual PRI NIC/NAC, 12 x V.90 Quad Modem Cards, Netserver PRI NIC/NAC and Network Management Card NIC/NAC. We only currently have one PRI connected servicing 23 channels. I've been told that we can gain faster call setup and some other minor benefits if we were to migrate to a Hyper DSP setup, not to mention just being out of the quad-modem "dark ages". I've been nosing around and simply from a shipping cost standpoint I'd rather pick up the required cards separately and not the whole chassis (besides which, what would I do with *another* spare chassis :-) Do I need to replace everything at once, or can I for example pull out the NMC, put in a Hyper NMC and keep running with the quads and the rest of the stuff in the chassis (even temporarily)... then replace the Netserver PRI with Hyper Access Router, etc. etc. IE. is it an all at once thing, or can I do it piecemeal as I find good deals on individual card sets. Also, is there a difference on the Hyper DSP's as to whether I am hooking to a T1 or PRI, I know we had to be careful to get the PRI version way back when the chassis was purchased since the telco here uses PRI rather than T1. And I guess the other question is can anybody list off the parts I need to look for (with part numbers would be fantastic). As I understand it I need... 1 x Hyper DSP NIC/NAC set 1 x Hyper NMC NIC/NAC set 1 x Hyper Access Router NIC/NAC set Anything I've missed? Anything I don't really need? If this was a matter of buying the equipment new we probably wouldn't bother... but we figure for a relatively small investment in used parts this gets us a little more current :-) Thanks much for any help you guys can provide! DSP: bug or ... ?

Hello, I am setting traps on incoming call, incoming call termination and failure (template 1), then I save Chassis to NMC NVRAM, then refreshing template 1 channels (template 1 channels are mapped to dsp), then save template 1 channels to nvram (dsp's), and saving dsp's modem settings to dsp's nvram. After that my ARC is unable to accept dialers: list conn - shows just this "slot:X/mod:Y DIALIN INVALID 00- -0000 00:00:00" and after some seconds this user is dropped. What is this? What can cause this? Do anybody have the same problem?

Fast Busys

Quick synopsys: T1 PRI's (10) We changed nothing on our end and have checked everything 100 times. Started to get fast busys radomly throughout hunt. Only thing that the DSP console is reporting is Call Block Failure Count is increasing incrementally. We have some Quads and you can see the light flash yellow for 1/5 of a second then they go dark. This indicates the calls are hitting our TC unit, but dump. Then a call will come in on the same modem and will connect. There is no rhyme or reason to it and its driving us nuts. We suspect that its the Telco, but they claim "nothings changed". PRI's are not erroring either. We've tried everything looking for some input. Thanks! Steve Hadow GTI

Use TCM for this. Had exactly the same problem with Hiper DSPs - one goes bad, messes all of them up. Our usage is fairly light but we had maybe 10 occurrences over a period of 4 months, plenty of midnight and Sunday trips in to power cycle the TC. The final time the problem occurred I just happened to have my notebook and fired up TCM... noticed that one of the quads was yellowed-out so I had someone pull the quad and the problem was gone just like that. The quad seems to work fine 99% of the time and the occurences didn't seem to correspond with calls coming into that particular card... doesn't make any sense, but replaced that quad about 6 months ago and have not had a problem since. Only thing I can think is that it was flaking out and throwing garbage out onto the bus. If this is happening frequently enough for you, I'd say maybe just start pulling quads one at a time and see if the problem goes away. problems saving to config

What would cause NOT being able to save a chassis' config? When I use TCM for Windows to save the configuration on one of my chassis it fails with "Failed to Save Chassis to NMC's NVRAM" Cheers, -Tom
