FYI, Provo Canyon Project Update Attention: Motorists utilizing the haul road near Canyon Meadows to gain access to the bicycle trail must immediately cease. Large haul trucks travel back and forth along this route and it is very dangerous for unauthorized vehicles to travel in this area. The newly constructed bicycle trail is not intended for motorized vehicle use. Utah Highway Patrol and Wasatch County Sheriff officers will be patrolling the area and all motorized vehicles found using the trail will be subject to a fine. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please forward this information to others that may be affected by the Provo Canyon Project. OK - since so many of us ride anytime roads are passable - how about all months except 1 week prior to and one week after the banquet/elections? Board - I thought I would bring this up and cc the mailing list since I've talked to a few riders about this topic recently. Currently, our ride calendar is from Dec. 1st to Sept.30th. Since there is still good riding to be had in October and November, does it make sense to change our ride calendar from October 1st to September 30th? Even after the change from DST, there are times in November when the weekends are warm enough to ride. Plus, in 2007 we are going to get an extra month of DST. Greg McMurdie

Thanks to all who have stepped up and filled in the blanks for our September schedule! Below is the information on a September 3rd Ride Rob Yuschak is leading. We are looking for someone interested in leading a short leg of the ride. If you are interested...please let me know! Saturday Sep 3 09:00 AM loops along the east bench 60/O/3/c Meet at 4711 S. Bonner Circle (1265 E). We'll head south first and loop up to the mouth of little cottonwood and then head north following Wasatch blvd, across parleys, around the zoo and then back south to the finish (my house). We can then fire up the grill and have a party!! We'll do a potluck, so bring something to share. There's plenty of parking and room to play....baci, badminton, Frisbee, trampoline, etc!! The main route will be 60+ miles and will be paced for B-C riding. with the help of other ride leaders we could have loops of varying miles to accommodate everyone so all levels of riders can join in on the fun... One option is a 33-mile out-and-back ride from Baker (5317 feet) to the end of Wheeler Peak Scenic drive, which tops out at 10,160 feet. Since gaining nearly 5000 feet of elevation might not seem like such a good idea-and Robert is not at all sure that it does-other options are to do rides of 30 to 100 miles on mostly flat roads in the valley below the park. The Wheeler Peak hike is 8.6 miles round-trip and the bristlecone pine side trip will add about 2.5 miles. From there head north to Saratoga Road. Go west and follow road 2.2 miles (this is by the model airport) We'll ride 16 miles round trip on one of the most beautiful sections of the parkway. Attn: Bonneville Riders - I want to be sure you all were notified of our upcoming ride. The Huntsville100 is set for this Saturday, August 20th in the beautiful mountains east of Huntsville. This is a USCF race with Citizen riders welcome. If you are training for LOTOJA, and you wish to get in the miles, you may ride the 100 mile course instead of the 100 Km, but you can't be scored against your field. ...along with Geneva Summit and Salt River Pass. Next Sunday, 8-21, I'm going to start from Preston ID and ride an out-and-back to/from Salt River Pass; i.e., the first three lotoja climbs. It's approx 150 miles in all and approx 6,300 feet of climbing total (very approx). I'm thinking about leaving from Preston, 8th North and State Street, at ... 7:30 a.m.?
