[BBTC Ride_calendar] thanks to everyone for making Sat's ride and BBQ a success

Hey, Rob here! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone making Sat a fun day in the saddle. Sherry, I usually loose a pound or two when I weigh in after a ride day, except this time. Your dishes were delicious and most definitely not low fat! Karen thanks for stepping up and leading the 35 miler and kudos on the hummus, it was even better today. It's always great to share a good ride and good food with old and new friends. The only thing missing was more friends and riders. I will look forward to more of us joining in on the next one. Oh, and thanks for everyone hanging out until the last of us returned to join in on the festivities. The next ride and party, we'll stagger the start times so we all finish at the same time. I think this will have to become at least a once a month outing. On another note those that tried the energy drinks, you can contact myself or Craig Jacobsen to purchase them. They come in seven different flavors and have zero sugar and only eight calories. And, all club members receive a ten percent discount on all purchases. Thanks again for a fun day!!! Rob Yuschak

[BBTC Ride_calendar] Update to loops along the East Bench

Hey everyone, I had hoped to post this update earlier but unfortunately time goes faster than me. Tomorrow's ride will feature four loops: 1st - the green course is 14 miles long and is a great ride for novice riders not wanting a lot of climbing. It will meander around Holladay and Millcreek areas with minimal elevation changes. 2nd - the yellow course is 22 miles and offers more of a challenge with more climbing, similar to the Wed night evergreen loop rides. 3rd - the blue course is the core of the loops, its 35 miles and is a great intermediate type ride. We will work our way around and up to the mouth of little cottonwood and then stay high as we ride north to the mouth of Emigration canyon down and then back south to the finish. 4th - the red course will follow the blue course out to 9800 S and then continue south through Draper to south mountain up to Sun Crest and back and then finish following the blue course. After the rides everyone is welcome to spend the rest of the day at the house for a potluck BBQ. I hope to see everyone tomorrow to kick off the labor day weekend!! Rob Yuschak

I've ridden Strawberry (2 Sundays ago) and Monte Cristo (yesterday). I thought M. Cristo was harder ... more relentless. Strawberry does have a false summit -- just when you think you should be coasting at 30-40 mph, you're straining to go 10-15 mph for another mile or two. Ditto Brent re the last couple miles of Salt River Pass. But, whether literally or figuratively, it's pretty much down hill from there. Bill, It's rolling at first then the grade is more constant as you get in to the National Forest area. Nothing steeper than 7% and those two areas are less than one mile in length. The climb is long however. Of the three climbs, the worst is the last 2 1/2 miles of Salt River Pass. That's a real grind for me. Thanks! Hi Bikers, Anyone want to do an easy mountain bike ride tomorrow (Friday) evening? That is, unless you have a hot date. Wait! Come to think of it, if you do have a hot date, just bring him/her along (this includes husbands and wives). We'll ride the dirt road that goes from Jeremy Ranch to East Canyon. Meet at the beginning of that road at 6:30pm. We'll ride however far we want, then turn back, but we'll need to turn around early enough to get back by sunset at 8:10pm. (also on KCPW) My topic is air pollution and children's health. Dear Big Riders, For all of you who are planning to do the Big Ride Sunday here is some additional info. We will have two sag vehicles. We have two 5 gall jugs of water and some powdered Gatorade. We also have some Fig Newtons and some chips and salsa for the lunch stop. Other than that, bring your own food and drinks. If you are leaving any food or clothes with the sag wagons make sure it is in a bag with your name on it. Your gear could change vehicles depending on the speed of your ride. (Faster or slower). The ride is marked and we'll also have a map. We plan on leaving at 7:00 sharp so come early. We start a big climb right out of the gate so you might want to warm up before the start. We get on I-80 after we go through Evanston for about 20 miles. Sorry We also take I-84 for about 12 miles to get to Morgan. If you feel like it, I'd propose we wear the club jersey Sunday.
