Hello Mini Me Riders, and Everyone else who has ever thought about doing a Mini Me ride, or is just looking for something fun to do this weekend: The last Mini Me ride of the season is this Saturday in Heber Valley, and it looks like the weather will be great. The National Weather Service is predicting: Mostly sunny. South wind 6 mph. High 80. Probability of precipitation 0%. We probably won't even freeze in the morning, either. It should be around 60 degrees by the 10am start time. See the full details below. I hope we see you on the ride. We'll do a scenic, mostly flat to mildly hilly loop around Heber Valley, with optional side legs up Lake Creek, along the Provo River, and up to Soldier Hollow. Fall colors should be properly on display, too. The main loop of the ride has a moderate hill; the side legs vary from mild rollers to a major hill. the last Superseries of the season is coming this Saturday morning from Sugarhouse Park. Looks like the weather could impact the event in several ways. 1. wet roads are difficult to impossible to get marked 2. snowy conditions are going to be avoided - so if Friday's storm provides fresh snow on the mountaintops an alternate 100 course that stays much lower will be put into service. 3. we'll do what we can to ride - but I personally dont endorse riding in a downpour, it's not really that safe, after all its just a club bicycle ride, no entry fee is at stake. For our less enlightened members the Superseries schedule is assembled at the first of the year - and every 100 mile ride on the BBTC schedule is not automatically an SS event. Participating in 7 of the SS events garners special mention at the year-end banquet and an article of clothing that makes it all worth it. So if you're on the bubble - get out your winter gear and lets finish the Series off with a bang Don Williams

Hey BBTC! Well the weather sure did a 180 this past week, eh! It looks like we have a few more days before it starts warming up again so be prepared for the changing temps and dress in layers. Before we know it the resorts will be open and we'll making turns in the powder instead of on the streets. Let me know if you would like to see club ski days and what days would work best and we'll see what we can put together. In the meantime let's get what miles we can on our bikes. Lyle is leading Emigration tomorrow and Malcolm is climbing Millcreek this week, don't forget your lights and a jacket for the descents! Brent's got a nice loop happening in the south end of the valley and add Doug's Bike and Brew and Thursday can give you some nice miles for the day. The colors are beginning to peak in the mountains and Friday, Saturday and Sunday offer some great scenic riding, Donna is showing off Big Cottonwood Canyon and Don is leading Randy's Fall Color Classic. There are only two mini me's left and Sunday's is a no traffic ride up to Lost Creek and back. Wherever you choose to ride, may it be a safe and enjoyable time spent with good friends on smooth roads! To All: Friday, September 22nd, is world car-free day. On this day we had scheduled a "Mayor's bike to work day" to celebrate car-free day. Unfortunately Mayor Anderson has ver recently received an invitation to be a panelist on (former)President Clinton's Global Climate Initiative in New York City. I am sure man of you will be disappointed to miss this annual celebration of bicycling, but most disappointed is Mayor Anderson who truly enjoys seeing us on our bikes riding to work. We are a vivid example of is efforts to make our environment safer and cleaner. We may be losing a small party next Friday, but in the big picture we have a leader who had made visible strides to keep us safer, and more accepted as we ride to work, on errands or for the simple pleasures of riding our bikes. So let us congratulate Mayor Anderson for being picked for the panel , but look forward to our next bike ride with him next year. World Car-free day is still going to happen. So please, be car-free on Friday September 22nd. (for more on car-free day go to www.carbusters.org) If anyone wants to meet me at Liberty Park on Friday the 22nd at 7:30 AM, let me know. we can eat a bagel, drink our coffee or juice and then ride off to our respective jobs.
