I never made it past the first 3 songs.I REALLY tried, but just couldn't do it. I still have to go and buy that darn DVD for the sake of having a complete collection, but that hasn't happened yet. And I had no desire to see that tour either. I mean if he had come to Toronto I would have been there, for sure.but he didn't make it to Toronto on the lute tour so there was no way I was going to travel to see that. It's not that it's bad - from the sake of being art I guess it's quite good, which is certainly why the lute album appeals to some..but it's not my thing either. I'm thinking The Police was a better decision!! I haven't even tried to listen to it, honestly. I respect him for trying, but (echoing you here) it's not my thing either. I'm probably going to get slammed for this, but this reminds me of how I felt watching Fiction Plane. I went in really wanting to like them, but I just wasn't impressed. I kept listening thinking & hoping the next song would be the one that hooked me, but nope. Not only did I think their sound was average and bland, but I thought Joe was the weakest member of the band. (Running away to avoid things being thrown at me.) Chris - I'm not at all slamming you regarding Fiction Plane..but here are my thoughts: I personally think they are better suited to smaller venues. I was lucky enough to see them a few years ago at two small venues in Toronto (ironically, one of the venues was a club called "The Horseshoe", which was the first place The Police played in Canada, and though I may be mistaken here, I believe it was Fiction Plane's first gig in Canada too). At both shows (one a few months after the other), they TOTALLY rocked. They were absolutely unbelievable. I loved every second. Their energy and enthusiasm was contagious and their performance was powerful - just fantastic. So, I had high hopes for them on this tour supporting The Police as well, but truthfully I wasn't that impressed with the two shows I saw in Vancouver. I wanted to like them as much as I had when I saw them before on the "Everything Will Never Be OK" tour, and it just didn't happen for me. Like you said, Chris, "I kept listening thinking & hoping the next song would be the one that hooked me, but nope." So, I think the size of the venue has something to do with it. Also, I was not familiar with the material on the new CD before seeing them in Vancouver. I finally got around to picking up the new disc a couple of days ago, and I think it's really good. Somehow, the songs sound catchier to me on CD than they did live. Now that I know the material, I am curious to see how this affects my impression of their live performance when I go to the Toronto and Montreal shows in July. Something tells me I will like their live performance more now that I am familiar with the new songs. Also, to anyone not familiar with their "Everything Will Never Be OK" CD, I strongly recommend finding a copy. If you are not a Fiction Plane fan now, I believe this CD will make you one! Just my 2 cents. Hello Chris and Bruce (& everyone else), There is not much live material of Fiction Plane available, but here are a couple of shows if you want to hear them again (a second chance, perhaps?). The June 7th show is an acoustic, small, in-store (Silver Platters Record Store) performance (about 15 people or so). HYPERLINK "http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/-1100062906/Fiction_Plane_-_2007-06-07_-_Se attle.zip"http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/-1100062906/Fiction_Plane_-_2007-0 6-07_-_Seattle.zip The June 20th show is from the Staples Center in Los Angeles (opening for the Police). HYPERLINK "http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/-1100061287/Fiction_Plane-2007-06-20.zip"ht tp://www.gigasize.com/get.php/-1100061287/Fiction_Plane-2007-06-20.zip I have to agree that they are a better band in small venues. I think their sound gets lost in the arenas. I have to agree with Bruce that after seeing them 4 or 5 times in small clubs, they totally rocked. So much energy; not a dull moment during the show. Have a great weekend. Kick back and listen to some music! hope you all have been well. i have been talking about the "reunion" subject a lot in the past few days, sharing the following tidbit with people: one of the first thoughts i had when "i heard" was that sting just bought himself a few years. think about it...compared to his previous solo records, SACRED LOVE as a failure, commercially and with most of the people here. the lute record...i have yet to get it, although i did hear some of it last christmas and i thought it was good. so...with the daunting process of writing and record an entire new pop record (avg. time to complete from scratch for him = approx. 3 yrs), and no desire to burn up the classical charts with another lute record...it makes all the sense in the world that he would do a reunion now. i believe him entirely when he says "the tour is more about reforging old relationships. my only hope is that he realizes just how special the band is. how they push him, challenge him. and something more than this tour comes out of it. FYI: i have yet to see them. looking very forward though. here's hoping "deathwish" is played... rich --- Stingfan222@aol.com wrote:

Commercial failure?? SACRED LOVE reached #3 in both the Canadian charts and the Billboard charts....and won Sting another Grammy. Not too shabby, I'd say!!! On Jun 23, 2007, at 7:05 AM, foxie wrote:
