Chris – I’m not at all
slamming you regarding Fiction Plane….but here are my thoughts:
I personally think they are better suited
to smaller venues. I was lucky enough to see them a few years ago at two small
venues in Toronto (ironically, one of the venues was a club called “The
Horseshoe”, which was the first place The Police played in Canada, and
though I may be mistaken here, I believe it was Fiction Plane’s first gig
in Canada too). At both shows (one a few months after the other), they
TOTALLY rocked. They were absolutely unbelievable. I loved every
second. Their energy and enthusiasm was contagious and their performance
was powerful – just fantastic. So, I had high hopes for them on
this tour supporting The Police as well, but truthfully I wasn’t that
impressed with the two shows I saw in
Also, to anyone not familiar with their “Everything
Will Never Be OK” CD, I strongly recommend finding a copy. If you
are not a Fiction Plane fan now, I believe this CD will make you one!
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Bruce

I haven't even tried to listen to it, honestly. I respect
him for trying, but (echoing you here) it's not my thing either.
I'm probably going to get slammed for this, but this reminds me of how
I felt watching Fiction Plane. I went in really wanting to like them, but
I just wasn't impressed. I kept listening thinking & hoping the
next song would be the one that hooked me, but nope. Not only did I think
their sound was average and bland, but I thought Joe was the weakest member of
the band.
(Running away to avoid things being thrown at me.)

I never made it past the first 3 songs…I REALLY tried, but
just couldn’t do it. I still have to go and buy that darn DVD for
the sake of having a complete collection, but that hasn’t happened
yet. And I had no desire to see that tour either. I mean if he had
come to Toronto I would have been there, for sure…but he didn’t
make it to Toronto on the lute tour so there was no way I was going to travel
to see that. It’s not that it’s bad – from the sake of
being art I guess it’s quite good, which is certainly why the lute album appeals
to some….but it’s not my thing either. I’m thinking The
Police was a better decision!!

I'm sorry, some of you may have liked this, but my copies of the cd and DVD are
still wrapped up on my desk. I will listen to them when I'm 70.
THE POLICE ARE BACK!!!
