ok enough with gun jokes....what about the Police concert review...Denver Post not so kind
http://www.denverpost.com/entertainment_old/ci_6105452 Do us Police fans think this is far off or more closer to truth then we would like to think. Given the ticket prices people are expecting a top notch show etc. Just curious as this review is slightly negative and therefore may not make it to the police web site? David
I thought this was a pretty accurate review, although I was at the Sunday night show. I don't take it as negative, though! Sounds like a music critic who actually knows his music and kept an open mind. Pretty hilarious descriptions of the guys -- a parakeet?? And Stewart does look rather stupefied, and always has. We know he's quite the opposite, but I don't think the description was meant as a slight on his playing. Not everyone is going to go to these shows and almost cry, like me!! :) The crowd was singing along and on their feet the entire night. The energy in the Pepsi Center was tremendous. Clearly an audience who loved it! I think it's a pretty fair review from what I've heard (get to see them this weekend at Bonnaroo).? I will always be bored by much of Sting's "banter" since it's essentially the same every time.? How many times did he make the joke about My Sharona during the Broken Music Tour?? Then again at the press conference.? I'm not trying to be too negative towards his shtick, but I guess after having seen Barenaked Ladies give the best improv banter ever (seriously one of the most fun concerts I've ever attended, even if you don't care for their music), I expect a little more effort.? Sting is too locked into this fully rehearsed show business down to a T.? I'm fully expecting to see some of the luster gone, but I'm still really excited to see the band.? I know I might seem negative, but ever since February, it's been total Police around the house.? My wife has had to suffer through my Renaissance Period for the Police.? My affection for them was at a comfortable level for her when we first started dating.? Other than a Sting poster in my room in college (which my roommates constantly gave me crap for), she hasn't witnessed too much until now.? By the way, I'm trying to put a roadtrip CD together for Bonnaroo.? My buddies and I are having a contest.? We each make 2 mix CDs, and the best CD gets bragging rights for the rest of the weekend.? I've been thinking about starting the CD with The Song Remains the Same by Led Zep, but I can't find a song to properly follow it.? Anyone have any good Rolling Stones suggestions?? I can probably also only include 1 Police tune in the mix.? What would you all suggest?? They're the guys that gave me crap throughout college for the Sting poster, so I can't get too weird.? I'm thinking either MIAB or Synchronicity II.? Any suggestions? Hopefully I didn't (or don't) waste anyone's time too much.? Thank you all in advance.
