So, we know he's playing the Super Bowl. Very last minute addition. How are the organizers squeezing him in?? No news that a band is playing with him. So what song will he do?? He doesn't have anything new, so IF he plays his own song, I'm guessing it will be Roxanne or We'll Be Together. Something upbeat. BUT, I'm more afraid that he's just going to be window dressing for a No Doubt song. They are very current right now and have a number of recent hits they can sing. Can you imagine Sting singing backup on Hey Baby? "All the boys get the girls in the back...." Really, my guess is he'll be singing with another group on its song. Gag. I'd rather not have him be on at all. It will be interesting to watch Gwen, though. She has a thing for Sting (despite being married to a hunk of her own.) Maggie

this was a good post. HOF induction less than 2 months away. not a rehearsal (that we know of), not a sighting together. mandella concert cancelled - not that they were playing anyway. almost as much as their performance/induction, i look very forward to the interviews after it's over. look for sting to take the same tact that the great robert plant did after live aid, when led zeppelin "reformed" for the day. it'll go something like this: press: how was it to play with the police again? sting: it was fantastic. it is a great honor to be considered a band worthy enough to be inducted into this hall. the police were a great band. we had a great run. press: so when can we expect you and the police get back together? sting: we'll i'm working on a new record right now so... zzzzzzz.zzzzzzz.zzzzzzzzz... rich Note: forwarded message attached. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hey Rich, You know I usually agree with you on all things Police, but this one I have to differ! I've often wondered why I like No Doubt, and I think it comes down to the Police influence in their music. I never really pinpointed it, but after this last CD, it's more evident. Since they seem to select some "new/young" band or musician to do the introductions, I can't think of a better person/band to select. Of course, I'm always available on March 10 for the intro if Gwen wants to back out! True, it is all record label puppeteering. You have to give them credit, they're doing their job and taking advantage of events and marketing the hell out of that man. He's got mansions and diamonds to pay for not to mention college tuition for 6 kids! I hope Sting does a better job this time because I didn't care for the medley that he did before. I hope Oakland wins because the average age for them is something like 38 years old. Hell, Sting could play for Oakland in beating the Grinch. I am sure that the Stinger would have to be the QB since he has to be in control. I bet he would lump Stew and Andy in the punt return team so that Sting could have the glory.

Sting at the Superbowl?

Hi there, Has anyone heard that Sting is playing the superbowl? My husband called this morning and asked if I was watching the superbowl on Sunday and I said "of course not..." I should have known it was a trap! Either he was telling me sting is playing w/ No Doubt to get me to watch it, or the man's finally looking out for my interests! Who's got the scoop? Michelle
