Hi there, I found the following information while searching for details about the forthcoming album: ============================ http://www.solid-state-logic.com/news/newsstory.php?id=42 Sting's Latest Album Mixed On XL At Mega Studio, Paris Sting has just completed the mix for his next album, scheduled for release in September, at Thierry Rogen's Mega Studio in Surenes, Paris. Over a two-month period, twelve tracks were mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer Simon Osborne, using Studio A's 96-channel XL K Series Super Analogue console - the largest XL in Europe. A highly experienced mixer, it was Osborne's first introduction to SSL's flagship analogue console and the experience left him extremely enthusiastic. "I'm a long-time fan of the J Series, but this console sounds even better! I found it very straightforward and easy to use. We used the XL for the stereo mix here - we'll mix in 5.1 for the DVD later - and I found the Ultipan automated panning a very useful and timesaving function. Overall I'm extremely impressed and very much look forward to working on the XL again." Still not sure what they are taping tonight or sometime soon at the Mayan in Los Angeles, but here's the kind of people who will be there..... I got this email from a friend who lives in LA "Oh, it was so annoying. I called all weekend to try to win. Some girl got through and the DJ says "So you ready to go see Gordon Matthew Sumner?" and she said "Who?" Yup, true fans once again. Maggie

KIM TURNER (May 13th 2003) It is with great regret that we have to announce that Kim Turner, the younger brother of Martin and Glenn, passed away on May 12th 2003, following a brave fight against cancer. In the early 70's Kim began his professional musical career within the extended Wishbone "family", first playing drums with Miles Copeland-managed band Cat Iron, who supported Wishbone Ash on several occasions in the early seventies. He then played drums with Andy Fraser (ex-Free) and appeared on the all star Mandalaband album alongside members of 10cc and Barclay James Harvest. In 1978 Kim joined up and coming band the Police as road manager and sound engineer and it is widely acknowledged that Kim's joining contributed greatly towards the creation of the band's distinctive live sound. From accompanying the band as "one man road crew/driver" on their first US tour, right through to the monumental "Synchronicity" tour of 1983, Kim remained an integral part of the machine which powered the most successful UK act of the eighties. Sting's solo career required even greater involvement from Kim, who co-managed the vocalist alongside Miles Copeland up until 1997 and also co-produced the 1986 "Bring on the Night" live album. 1987 saw events turning full circle, with Kim involved with Wishbone Ash as "executive producer" for "Nouveau Calls" and being instrumental in reuniting the original WA line-up. Talking today, Martin Turner paid tribute to Kim and says "He was such a big and popular character - it just will not be the same without him. We have had a long time to prepare ourselves for this day, but it is still very hard to get used to him not being here any more". So... I have an mp3 of Every Breath You Take '83, but the quality is pretty shoddy. I'm not sure how many other people will agree, but it's one of my personal Police favorites, and I always wonder what possessed "them" (whoever "they" may be) to not release the song more widely. So, I guess I'd like to know if anybody out there has any way of putting the song in a higher quality digital format. Just a simple output to CoolEdit or somesuch? For that matter, who on this list actually owns a copy of the single this was on? [Bless you if you do :) ] Til Again, -Dave

Hi all, I was just wondering if the single release date has been changed? According to Outlandos/Sting Fan Club, the single is going to be released in July. It seems kind of early, with the album not being released until September. Btw, any more news regarding the DVD filming in LA?
