Adding more gasoline/petrol to the fire... Thanks to the fine folks at www.stingus.net, I was able to hear a 44 second snip of the 'new' 2003 Moon over Bourbon Street via a link they have on their site. Two words: Pure S***. Overproduced, poor vocals, just not at all worth spending the extra money on the Japan CD. I can only imagine what the remix of Send Your Love must sound like. The last time I spent money on any remixes of Sting AND was satisfied was when I acquired the Roxanne '97 CD single with the four remixed tracks of Walking on the Moon. That happened just last month. Save your money, don't buy the Japanese version of "Sacred Love". It'll turn up on eBay for far less than you'll pay for it new. All of this having been said, I'm very hopeful that the new CD doesn't suck big blue monkey balls. It just dawned on me from reading Mr. Lucky's comments that the B-sides that were included on the last "Fragile" CD single (Desert Rose demo, different version of Fill Her Up) were rather acceptable. Also, if my memory serves me right, there was an early demos CD of BND floating around there. Yes, I found it at www.stingoop.com - it was a USA promo titled "Sting Singles & B-sides", and included two songs (Folk Tune, Bach Parita) that never saw the light of day, unless he renamed the songs. It also has various versions of Desert Rose, BND, and so on. 10 tracks in all. Has anyone on the list seen or heard this CD? We did get the Desert Rose and Fill Her Up demos as Bs on the Fragile single, but because no other singles from ...All This Time were commercially released (or even really worked to radio, for that matter), there wasn't any other opportunity to add any other songs. You never though, though... Stingus is reporting that 3 singles from the new album will be worked; that opens up possibilities. Actually, most CDs have dropped in price - and becoming value-enhanced at the same time (music videos, interviews, weblinks to exclusives, added tracks, bonus CDs/DVDs, etc.) - to dissuade people against illegal downloading. But if you're still paying $19.99 for your CDs (single disc), you really ought to shop somewhere else - that's mostly the retail markup that you are paying. Best Buy has the best prices around. Target and Circuit City also have decent prices and a good selection... with some exclusives as well. I agree that the Sting b-sides have been weak. What ever happened to the much promised (during the BND discussion) of early demos as B-Sides. I'd take that over all these garbage remixes. And 10 songs on a CD with the increasing price and declining value of CDs is bad news. You'd think they'd put as much as they could on the cds to give more value to the consumer to purchase it. Maggie, [stands upon soapbox] I agree, 10 songs seems like the extent of Sting's range when making CDs. Are you sure that he doesn't have a "prelude" among those 10 songs? BND was 9 songs and an intermission. On top of that, why the hell can't he make some quality B-sides, as opposed to remixing songs from previous albums? A 2003 remix of Moon over Bourbon Street? In my personal opinion, that song was by far the most annoying one performed on his last tour, why torture the Japanese with a remix of that song? Shape of my Heart acoustic? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? The lone "true" B-side from BND (End of the Game [full]) was by far a gem of a song. Just because you're massively successful doesn't mean that fans will settle for what you give them. Coldplay for example continues to include B-sides on their CD-single releases. I'm sure that they haven't rested on their laurels despite their current blooming success. Here's a novel idea: take the three songs from the Police reunion and put that on a CD-single. At least it's "sort of new".
