Someone earlier remarked on the credit to "The Bard" for "Like A Beautiful Smile" which appears in the album booklet, even though the track doesn't appear on all countries' editions of the album. They asked if the song was originally meant to be on there. I remember seeing it on the tracklisting when the tracklisting first appeared. Back then, we were also told that there would be a b-side which was a humourous song about car thieves. It looks like they then switched "Stolen Car" and "Like A Beautiful Smile" around. This begs the question - did they do the right thing? I can't really imagine the album with "Smile" in the middle now... Another FYI. . . I made the foolish mistake of ordering the Sacred Love Japanese import from amazon.com and STILL haven't received it. If you want your CDs, including forthcoming Sting singles, delivered on time, do NOT order from amazon.com. Johnny Nitro

While waiting for the season premiere of JAG last night I was channel surfing and I came across 2 AOL commercials featuring Sting. One was played on E!, the other on VH1.. . Also, could the person who posted those recent tv appearances for Sting this week do so again(the view, letterman, etc). Unfortunately I accidently deleted that email. I haven't heard anyone mention that he is scheduled for Sixty Minutes II on October 1st and for Oprah on October 31st. Quite a media blitz! Sacred Love in NJ!!

OK first of all, excuse the time of this message - I've had an *extremely* long week, and just got home from an evening of refreshing adult beverages... :) With that said, earlier this evening, I headed to my favorite record store here in good ol' Jersey to see if they finally got my German remix SYL single back in stock. No such luck. What I *did* find was ample quantities of not only the US version of Sacred Love, but a decent amount of the Japanese import (for $30 a pop). I'm not sure if any of the salespeople or other customers heard whatever noise I happened to emit, but I grabbed one and happily went to the front to pay. And contrary to whatever knocking the album may have been getting, "The Book Of My Life" completely rescinds any of those comments. Trust me, if you can get through the loops and samples and Kipper drums of this otherwise commercial collection, the LP is definitely worth it solely for this song. And "Inside" as well... Sting, Old Songs New Songs and Sacred Love

Well to be honest until very recently I hadn't bought a Sting album for years... mostly because I was too skint.. I think the last CD I bought when the album was first released was Soul Cages.. Then recently my friend lent me a few compilation tapes of the last few studio albums and I have really gotten into Sting again. I've been reading all the reviews of the new CD and thought I'd add my humble opinion.. Oh... one more thing ... just to add to the Police / Sting debate - I bought all the Police albums when they came out, my favourite is Reggatta de Blanc... followed by Ghost in the Machine. When Dream of the Blue Turtles & Nothing Like the Sun came out it took me ages to get into it... (probably 10+ years! - in fact it was only last week I found myself hummin Rock Steady! when I first heard it the day it was released way back in 87) I bought Soul Cages soon after release- but only recently began to really play it - when it came out I was listening to a lot of hip hop so it kinda passed me by. I loved ten summoners tales. At the time I remember thinkin that it was about time Sting did a happy cd.. and I always planned to buy it but never got around to it. As for Brand New Day - I thought it was great since the first day - especially the cornelius mixes of bnd. I dont understand why so many people on the list dont like it.. for me Desert Rose and BND are fantastic singles. Mercury Falling is ok - but I can only listen to it on a sunday when I'm feeling thoughful (!) - it kinda has that mood for me - a bit like the soul cages. (but not as bad as the truly awful all this time live cd) Bang upto date then... When I first heard Send Your Love - I thought it was crap... well- the single mixes are fairly ropey. I couldnt understand what was going on...I was really looking to a cornlius produced cd.. all minimalist with wierd sounds and stings great lyrics.. I heard the album version of SYL this week and cant believe how much the first few lines add to the overall song.. I really like it now - although I still cant listen to those calderone mixes....without pressin skip Whenever I say your name - again I love it... a really good track, as is Inside. A lot of you seem to dislike Whenever ... but for me its one of the catchiest songs on the new album. 'd love it to be a number one . I havent heard all the other tracks yet...but I'd be happy to hear of anyone else out there who likes the above tracks too. I plan to buy the full album this weekend and its even motivated me to buy the live DVD frm the BND Tour. Growing

Can I conclude the CD is growing on those of us list members who had the priviledge to listen to it so far? We start relationships with certain types of people and hope it is growing on us. We move into a house in our favourite area and hope living in this house will grow on us. We buy a car of a certain brand even if it does not feel right from the start - hoping the drive will grow on us. We buy clothing of our favourite brand in the trust it will soon feel right on our skin. And we buy music in this trust the songs will grow on us. DON'T WE? Where are the proud but disappointed Sting fans that have decided NOT to buy this album? Let's not forget about the future and get on with the thought that this album would have been made available on emusic right away. You could purchase each song separately for 99 cents a piece - which ones would lead the download list?? Would you download a second track after being disappointed about the first one? With single-track download, the album character disappears - where is the chance for a musician to tell a story? How can then "a list of tracks" grow on us? Thinking of this, I want to forget about that future, get on with the present and hope that albums will always remain being available as a whole "book". Just another 2 cents I could not hold back.
