Hi,
There's some new stuff on iTunes called "iTunes Originals - Sting"
The URL is:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=1644…
Or you can just find it on the front page of the iTunes Music Store.
It's 22 tracks split between interview and tracks. Some new tracks,
some old tracks...
New exclusive versions of "This War", "Sacred Love" and "Hole in My
Life" (Wow!!!)
Also included are: Desert Rose, Ghost Story / I'm So Happy... Live in Italy
I was shocked to see a live version of "I Burn For You", but after
listening to the sample I'm pretty sure it's just the version from Bring
on the Night.

Yep, I retract what I said about Contact. A Kind Of Loving is the winner.
Loser. Thingy. Come to think of it, since I uploaded the boxed set to the
computer, it must be on here somewhere... god, I must get that deleted in
case it gets thrown up by the randomiser. *shudder*
As for Strontium 90, I generally like that, especially the sheer energy of 3
O'Clock Shit. That's one of my favourite Police tracks, actually. Also love
the ELTSDIM demo. Electron Romance and New World Blues are nice, too.

When we talk about the freak track "Mother", we must consider that the first
Summers-Fripp collaboration album (I advance masked) was released in 1982.
If some of you know the music of the 80?s King Crimson (the most creative
prog band, lead by Robert Fripp) you can associate it inmediately with a lot
of tracks of the 1983?s Synchronicity: Walking In Your Footsteps by Sting,
is another example.
Best
Gustavo.
PD: Please, be kind to edit your messages when replying. Thanks.
How could you forget one day (in the middle of all "chef d'oeuvres"):
Hole in my life, Voices inside my head, Bring On The Night , The bed's too big , Shadows in the rain, One world, Synchronicity I & II, Muder by numbers.
Cheers

I like CONTACT. Even the movie with Jodie Foster!
Great bass, great guitar.
My least favourite POLICE songs:
Voices Inside My Head, When The World..., Hungry For You, Demolition Man,
Mother

When I was a teenager, I use to make Police tapes to play in
the car. When Synchronicity came out, I definitely included
Mother. My best friend and I were sitting in the back seat
when that song came on. My parents were in the front seat,
and my Dad was like "what that hell is that!?" We just
laughed really hard. Andy plays a killer base in Mother, and
I always thought it was kind of wild. On the other hand,
Be My Girl Sally, I can only listen to the beginning. I
haven't heard the rest in years, yet can still repeat the
first verse: "I was low and lonely.
I couldn't sleep a wink.
And I could only get unconscious,
If I'd had too much to drink."
(Sometimes, Andy as a lyric writer reminds me of
Ringo Starr. :D )
I definitely agree the worst is A Kind of Loving though. I
don't think anyone who isn't a tad sadistic would enjoy
listening to that one. I think from Sting's point of view
there's very little "angel" in Martin Taylor.

IMHO I think the worst Police song has to be A Kind of Loving off the Brimstone and Treacle soundtrack... I think that's the one with all the screaming in it... followed closely by Mother.

A Kind of Loving, definitely. Visions of the Night, great off of Police Academy. Regatta is by far the best album. Heard Sting do 'Hole In My Life' in Denver and my buddy and I were some of the minority standing on our chairs goin' nuts......

Love Canary in a Coalmine, Masoko Tanga.... Still stand by "Mother" as being
my least fav! I can understand the musical interest, because it does express
angst quite well. Funny how all of us have come up with such a variety of
"least favs"! I'm shocked by some of them!
