Ok, my turn now....I've been waiting 25 years since the last time I saw them in concert (Milano, July 4th 1982). I'll be in Aahrus on Saturday...I look forward. If some of you will be there, let's get in touch directly at the show...I'll wear my usual GHOST IN THE MACHINE t-shirt (yes, the old one). An exhibition of my photographs of The Police will be opening next week, to which you are all invited: In January 1977 Lawrence Impey was the first person to photograph the unknown rock group, The Police and to coincide with the London dates of the band's current world tour, My Life In Art is exhibiting this fascinating collection taken from these very early sessions. "My first photographic encounter with the band was at the Mayfair flat that Stewart Copeland shared with his brother Ian. I'd known Stewart since school days but this was my first meeting with Sting and the original guitarist, Henry Padovani. Stewart wanted a 'tough guys' look, although the only jacket that Sting possessed wasn't entirely suitable. A photo from the session was used on the front cover of the band's first single 'Fall Out'. Later in the year I met the band in Sting's Bayswater basement, this time with new guitarist Andy Summers. There were two sessions, although the first was abandoned due to technical problems. The attached photo is from these sessions. The final meeting was in March 1978 when I shot the band at the Locarno Ballrooms in Bristol, supporting the Californian group 'Spirit'. Here is The Police on the verge of stardom: dynamic, passionate, assured. In a little while photos from Bayswater and Bristol would appear on the back cover of their first million selling album 'Outlandos d'Amour'." The exhibition runs from Wednesday 5th - Sunday 23rd at My Life In Art, 4 Broadway Market, London, E8 4QJ, England. Opening Times: Wed - Fri 11-6, Sat 10-5, Sun 12-4. This is a 1984 film and among my favorites films. It is brilliant. Not sure exactly what they will play but at least its something...I like the exposure for the band and will be checking it out.....Glad I have Sirius..
