I was watching the Grammys telecast from a tivo HD broadcast and I have to say it looked sweet. I did notice Trudy was shown when the Police finished their song and were holding hands and bowing; they did a cut to the audience and for a flash you can see Trudy in the front row with a white and black dress (looking great I might add) with a huge smile and and then start laughing and seemed like it caught her in a great moment. She seemed to be having a great time which I though was kinda cool Didnt recognize who was sitting net to her though. David L

I am all for just Andy and Stewart doing vocals as well, but I realize that *my* response to this is an emotional "Police purist" response born of my desire to see just the three of them on stage. This is similar to the way U2 perform to this day. However, what's best for me as a fan may not be best for the band over, say, 80 shows. (1) Backup singers make it easier on Sting. They make it easier for him to remember all of the lyrics, set his vocal pitch, and rest his voice at various points during the 2+ hours of a show. (2) Andy and Stewart aren't great singers. Sorry, it's true. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with them not being great... look at Bob Dylan after all. It's Rock and Roll... you just have to mean it. (3) I think it would be tough (particularly for Stewart) to play drums and do backups for the entire show. I think a drummer should be free to move around and hit things... not worry about where the mic is located. (4) Synchronicity Tour. It's already been done that way. It worked, though it was less "punk" than the earlier shows. So having said all of that, I hope it ends up being just the three of them on stage. However, if they use samples and/or backup singers. I will understand and won't hold it against them. I also wouldn't be surprised if this decision changes once they transition from Arenas to Stadiums. Dan

hi Andy said that there was a show they did in maybe Argentina, on the Zenyatta Tour, or right around that time, where he said that it was probably the best version of Don't Stand So Close to Me they *ever* played. Is there any way at all to get a hold of this? Were these foreign shows recorded? the shows in Argentina were recorded and I've got them (at least parts of them), but I would have to check if DON'T was really that good... but the description "maybe Argentina or right around that time" is not really precise Second, what happened to his pink shoes? Does anyone know if he's planning on wearing them for the concerts, or if he could be cajoled into doing so? :-D so you've still got your shoes from 1980 ? Third, it says that Zenyatta was remixed and COMPLETELY redone by the band in one day of frenzied madness. What happened to the original album !?! Does anyone have access to the original? I thought the Ghost demos were really neat, if unpolished, but a whole different version of Zenyatta!? Wow! you bet that Nigel Gray still has these...the remixing was done on August 17, 1980 - on a free day on their French tour. And that's where Stewart ate the meal which his stomach didn't like. The next day Jeff Seitz had to replace him. On a side note there, Shadows In The Rain was originally a jazzy sort of number by Sting.... so what happened to his Zenyatta demos? the Zenyatta demos exist but they're not in circulation too bad :( Dietmar

At roughly $8.33 per song (based on a 30 song show not including ticketbastard, travel, and beverages...) I'm thinking I don't want to pay to see someone else up there. No offense, dear, Ross.
