New (old) to list ...

After having watched the performance on the Grammys tonight, I had to re-join the list (I was a fairly active member circa 1992-94 but left to study in the UK and then lost interest when Sting's albums went further and further downhill) and see what the general consensus is. I'll bet this has been discussed to death here, but I can't see these three getting together only for an "oldies tour." I really hope there's a new album in the works. Incidentally, I live in Vancouver where the Police have recently made front-page news for holding rehearsals in the city. At any rate, I thought the performance was pretty good. Sting in particular appears to have regained a bit of his old spark, and his voice seemed to be in fine form. New songs, please! Hasn't it been a few years since Sting's last pop album (I didn't even hear his lute CD)? Perhaps he has a few new ones by now that could form the basis of a new CD. And his introduction that they're "back" would seem to indicate slightly more commitment than just a tour. Just hoping. Chris

grammy observations

1) LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE ARE THE POLICE AND WE ARE BACK!!!! 2) each of them looked happy as a clam. think back to how sting looked at HoF induction, compared to last nite. 3) sting's look my have had something to do with andy's guitar sound...he sounded MUCH better (and much more like "himself" last nite. 4) did anyone notice...it appeared that they "cheated", using the actual recording of 'roxanne' during the performance (this for the harmony vocals during the chorus) 5) i was watching a grammy pre-show on E! television, and one of the people interviewed (a writer from People Espanol mag, I believe) was asked about the reunion. this was his "explanation": "sting has a million gazilion dollars...one day he woke up and decided 'lets do it'. he called up the other guys and they were shocked..." besides sounding phenom...it meant the world to me to see them all ECSTATIC to be playing together. especially the bass player... rich ____________________________________________________________________________________ The fish are biting. It sounded like Andy saying "We're back." Regardless, I thought they did an outstanding job last night. As far as the background vocal track of Sting singing, I'd rather hear that than three background singers. I cant wait for the tour.
