De-lurking... Yeah, I'm going to agree on this. The new stuff has left me a little cold, but hearing it with these arrangements has piqued my interest. They're brand new songs. And his voice was amazing. I think it's getting better as the years go on. What crossed my mind after watching this is how awesome an in-the-round stage would be for the tour...

hello, gang a while back this "remix" version was released on a CD in special format (5.1. or SACD, I can't remember corrcetly). a lot ws rumoured about where it comes from, a demo recording of 1981 or an outcome of the 1986 remix sessions... does anybody has infos about this? thanks for your reply!! Hey that sounds like me! I joined the list in '94 (way back in them old days!), but rarely post anymore. I haven't yet bought the album. Like Marisa and others, I'm insulted by the various versions that are available and so I have simply downloaded ALL of the known tracks via a popular sharing program that shall remain nameless (though it isn't Kazaa). For the record, I am enjoying the album and will eventually buy it. BUT, I must confess that while I'm still a Sting fan, he is moving away from the center of my sphere of enchantment these days... Hello from Giovanni. Yesterday I got my copy of the dvd and it'a very candid view on the making of the live songs of the record; it's not about how they built the songs to be recorded, but to be sung in a live situation. Songs are very different in some cases, like 'This War' (this one's not rocking for all of you who don't like that much that song). He talks about Kim Turner, talks about the making of 'Shape Of My Heart' (this is really funny!), talks about his life as an artist, that's a real cool dvd. It'a real pleasure to see a dvd like this, different from a 'making of' or a 'live concert on tour', this is something else, the concept is really interesting. Sacred Love thoughts / extra Chicago concert ticket?

Hello fellow Sting/Police fans, I've been a long-time lurker but seldom post to the list anymore. However, I am glad to read all of the reviews of the new album, both positive and negative comments. I'm torn: I haven't decided yet whether the album is worth purchasing or not. I agree with those of you who are fed up with the "four different versions" of each of Sting's solo albums released around the world since Ten Summoner's Tales (regardless of the reason), and that's one of the main reasons that I am not in a rush to get the new album: I'm tired of it myself. I don't know if anyone else on these lists is from the Chicago area, but I'm really disappointed to see how the supposedly free concert is being handled. It's free, yet you need tickets, yet getting tickets is nearly impossible: either you can obtain a scratch card (like a lottery ticket) by being at the right place at the right time downtown (I don't live near downtown), or a couple of radio stations are giving them away "to the first caller", or there's a silly web site that lets you try for tickets once per day. In other words, the odds are greatly against any true fans getting tickets. Oh, otherwise you can spend "only" $300 for an exclusive ticket (apparently all proceeds go to charity) but I cannot justify spending that kind of money on what will be a less-than 2 hour concert. Anyway, enough ranting, and on to my request. :-) Does anyone happen to have one or two extra free tickets to the show that they'd be willing to give me? In exchange, I'll gladly mention your name and generous contribution on the front page of the Sting etc. Web site for a full month if you like. :-) Can anyone help?! sad Sting = better CD

I totally agree that a sad artist makes a better CD. Sting's Soul Cages, for example, pulls at your emotions from all angles. It is my personal favorite. His concerts during the Soul Cages tour are some of his finest works. Another artist who made great CDs while 'down' was Phil Collins. His first two solo CDs produced great songs such as "I Missed Again", "In the Air Tonight", and my personal favorite "I Don't Care Anymore". A sad Phil Collins kicks ass and sells out concert; a happy Phil Collins produces CDs for Disney soundtracks and wallows in obscurity. It's easy to see that Sting is at a very happy point in his life. (By the way, happy birthday you old fart) I've yet to pick up the new CD (will have to wait til the weekend), but after listening to the free previews (thanks to StingUs for the link) it sounds like a CD that will grow on me in time (like every CD that Sting has produced).
