They've had the station 106.7 here in Dallas since late in the summer. It's the only long term dance music station we've ever had to my knowledge. They only play what I would call "mainstream" dance music. It's kind of funny that their target audience is 18-to-34-year-old Latinos who prefer English-language music. Most of the people listening to KDL that I know have no Latin background. I really hate these franchise style stations. They are the reason why US radio has no variety. At least KDL is not the typical MTV/Top 40 play-list I here over and over. FYI, I have been listening since August and there has been no Orb or System 7. :( Don "There is no greater joy than soaring high on the wings of your dreams, except maybe the joy of watching a dreamer who has nowhere to land but in the ocean of reality." Their going under the call letters KDL and sounds like its on automated for the time being. "We're playing 10,000 songs in a row" or something like that. Over the weekend they were announcing that that former station has gone to another home on the dial. Not sure where this will lead to, but maybe an outlet where we can hear some Orb, System 7, Thrash, to name a few. *fingers crossed*

Heh. I've been listening off and on in the car for a while (thanks for the heads-up, Ed), and as near as I can tell, their playlist is: 30% crap "dance/trance" remixes of pop/top 40 tracks 30% anonymous tracks as found on any given UK Ibiza/trance compilation 20% music featured in commercials (especially car commercials) 10% bad remixes of good groups 10% actual good music Not a very flattering picture, but radio in LA is so bad that I'vr added them to my presets. :/ Chris np: v/a - disco 2000 (dig that crazy Alabama 3 track, on vinyl no less...)
I'm looking for the 7th track on Ambient Meditations 2 (Instinct - It's Warm on the Other Side), for some reason, the backup copy (and now only copy) I made for myself has this track as only two minutes long. Anyone have this or want to email it to bi11i@bi11i.com? -----Original Message----- From: orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Chris Johnson or Shannon Beets Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 2:47 AM To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Orb] New Radio in LA Don Gagen wrote:

The track I have is 6:29 long and 6Mb in size. A little too big to mail. Have just tried your FTP and cannot connect. Mail me direct with current IP/u/p and I will upload for ya. If it is a backup copy, what happened to the original? -----Original Message----- From: orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of bi11i Sent: 28 January 2003 11:47 To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [Orb] New Radio in LA I'm looking for the 7th track on Ambient Meditations 2 (Instinct - It's Warm on the Other Side), for some reason, the backup copy (and now only copy) I made for myself has this track as only two minutes long.
