A little off topic so I'll keep it short and simple. The tour kicked off in Vancouver B.C on the 8th which I miss but I caught the show in Seattle last night and I must say, if the tour comes anywhere even remotely close to you, catch it!! Ben Stokes from DHS (also collaborated w/ Emergency Broadcast Network ages ago) was on hand for what I though pre-tour to be a video show for MBM, boy was I wrong! The main set and encore was EBN style using video clips as beat-loops and samples to the over-all performance using four projector's, four apple laptops (three for video) and a full electronic trap set (drum kit). Surprisingly at least one song from each major release was played to include 'Hello Teenage America' which was only played on their very first tour only this time it was quiet a major re-mix lasting 8+ minutes. So between the mix of previous hits plus four tracks from the new album, there was something there for the new and old fans alike. The set overall was about an hour and a half total and was opened by Dub-Trio (from N.Y) who did a very nice (but a tad redundant) set. Cheers
I saw the show last night, it was a great show. The visual mixing and scratching by Ben Stokes was definitely the best I've ever seen and the most impressive element of the show. It was really cool too to see him bust out the classics like Radio Babylon and I am Electro. The electronic drum kit, however, was highly suspect. From what I could tell he was just adding fills over pre-recorded drum tracks which I thought was a little misleading. I mean, if you're going to have an entire electronic drum kit set up why not have someone capable of playing ALL the beats on it a la Uberzone. Other than that it was a great night of music, I was very impressed by Dub Trio as well, hadn't heard them before and will definitely have to check out their albums. jaSON
