Kris Weston doesn't like LFC because he didn't write it. I'm going to love the new Orb album because of two words. Youth and Hillage. Granted Orblivion is great, but come on, U.F. Orb is spectacular. I'll take Towers of Dub over S.A.L.T. anyday. This upcoming album should be awesome. Fehlmann, Hillage, Glover and Doc. What more could an Orb fan ask for? Skidoo loves you

Why do we love Orblivion? I think it stands up very well over time. Maybe it didn't bring in any new fans in 1997, but the old fans loved it. I have read sales were disappointing. I think it was overshadowed by Fat Boy Slim, Chemical Brothers, Moby, and Aphex Twin as electronic music finally stormed and conquered America. Now ten years on (if you can believe it!) Why do we love Orblivion?
Maybe it didn't bring in any new fans in 1997, but the old fans loved it.
hmmm, I have to disagree with that statement. I believe it was the most commercially succesful Orb album here in the states. Dissapointing sales are relative. Maybe in terms of Island's expectations of not going platinum it was dissapointing. It still is the most common orb album that turns up in used cd stores which I think means it was the best orb seller when it was new. The Orb toured twice through the US for that album, and both times in Chicago the turnout was great. Sure the first time was with the chem bros, but I saw lots of people leave after the Orb's set. This was the only Orb album I remember seeing videos on MTV when it came out, and I heard a few songs from this album on the FM dial. Sure it didn't move as well as dig your own hole or fat of the land, but I think it has to do with the Orb's music has more depth and takes several listens to realise the true beauty. About time! Somebody has to mention Cydonia. I have listened to that album again and again. A definite new direction for LX & co., but I think they pulled it off well. I think A Mile Long Lump of Lard & Terminus are pure genius, plus E.D.M. and Egnable are very enjoyable. I can see why the vocal tracks put some orbsters at odds, because the vocals bring the attention to the surface, away from the area most orbies emerge themselves fully in the deep end. The final version is definitely the most polished and has the best flow. Plus I thought they pulled it off live rather well (albeit I saw them do it 15 times hehehe). And yes, Once More makes me want to dance, especially in the long versions. Gavin
