Well - that's subjective. I don't believe there is anything 'correct' about a creative process. I usually interpret 're-mastering' as a process where a mastering engineer revisits the mix and draws out its subtleties (like Ramon mentioned) and cleans out the cluttered areas. The use of compression may have the engineers mark on it. I usually *expect* a better aural experience from a re-master. That's its purpose, isn't it (unless the previous master was badly done)? Maybe the credits will show who mastered this version. I would think they'd be waving a flag saying who did it. On 10/5/07, Ramon Vink <ramonvink@hotmail.com> wrote:
Well, if it is indeed a remastered version, in the sense that a mastering engineer took the original mixes and reworked it with eq and compressor tools then it shouldn't sound all too different if it is done correctly. I guess the differences will lie in the very subtle regions. So that is a good thing i would think. It would be horrible if they had overdone their job and compressed the hell out of it (which is popular nowadays: to sound as hard as possible).

hmmmm.
Could someone define what 'remastered' means for me please?
Could it mean re-'glass'mastered where the original recording has no difference whatsoever?
As far as I can tell, this release sounds EXACTLY the same as the original. :(
wikipedia does not fill me with hope either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remaster
It would seem that I paid good money for something I already own but with different packaging.

Mine arrived today along with the deluxe edition of Adventures beyond the ultraworld. I got them from amazon.co.uk
Its an 8 page digipak with two trays. The one side opens to hold a booklet.
To my surprise the artwork on the front cover is the same as the original and not the spotty logo we saw a few weeks ago. The spotty logo is however used on the front of the booklet.
Not had chance to listen yet.
