honestly, i was pretty disappointed to find out that two very good friends of mine and long-term list members were asked, no, make that badgered into leaving the list because people didn't like their exchanges with Thrash (the king of inappropriateness). i mean, really people! all this off-topic bullshit and you folks are going to harass people for debating Thrash?! i only hope that the same folks who felt it was in "our" best interest to have those members leave, also are bombarding the posters of political babble with the same vehemence. whew! just had to get that off my chest... and in the interest of getting things back on topic, check out my next post

Actually, Thrash, not very many people did vote for Shrub and it's not their fault that they believe their television sets. Either Shrub or Gore could have been beaten by a third vote from all the remaining voters that didn't vote. Isn't that sad? I really wish we had something a bit more like a Parliament here so these extreme swings wouldn't be necessary. And back to the television sets. The majority of Americans spend most of their time either sitting on their fat, lazy asses in front of the television or with a television on within earshot. Most of their time. And the rest of the time they wish they could be watching television. They don't read, they don't engage in debate, they don't TALK to other people. They watch TV. And TV gives them simplified messages over and over and over. "Death tax." "Death tax" is a lie but it is so small a set of words that you can't call it a lie. The Right said over and over that it affects small business owners and farmers when in reality it affects multi-billionaire owners of corporations and agri-business giants. This tax was originally set up to prevent monetary empires from being created as well as to aid the good of society by balancing the governments budget. But the propaganda machine has been cranking ceaselessly for the Right for years and people actually believe the removal of taxes on the superwealthy will help them. They are fools. The far Right is producing a group of ultrawealthy religious zealots that will soon control so much wealth that no government on the planet can stand against them. Hello Orb-Lovin Folks! How about some music-oriented news? I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the new Prayerbox cd... it is currently being edited for release, and looks to be very promising if you like dub! I was sworn to secrecy, else I'd give you all a listen, but with recent events being as such, I thought you'd all like something to look forward to! (Sorry, no clue about the release date, either.) It is a full-length album, with some nice, solid dub tracks on there - very bassy, mellow, happy stuff. There are also some harder, beatier tunes, and several incorporate MC over the rhythms. Here comes the old drug and terrorism debate again. And yet another story about glow sticks and massage oil. Fine, drugs support terrorism, lets say. And ravers, I think we can all say, do drugs, LOTS and LOTS of drugs. I did my time in the trenches, and I can tell you, if there was somebody clean, s/he was an undercover, a "security guard," or flat broke. Why do you think everybody asks you if you have a dollar? And let's not be too hasty with our lingo there, bub. Drugs ARE illegal. It's something every Baby-Oil packing, glowstick-wielding GABBA girl knows. Why do you think they do it anyway? Because it's bad, wrong, and it makes you feel good - sometimes REAL REAL good, but always wrong in the eyes of the law. I'm thankful sometimes that I was never caught having to explain to the nice policeman just what the fuck it was I thought I was doing. This isn't your "I once was blind but now I see" schlock: I knew the risk, I took it, and I danced the night away. But I knew what I was doing before taking those purple pills (rarely during - hee hee), and I never got caught. I broke the law, and I WON!!! Call it luck or whatever you want, but I wouldn't expect a boatload of sympathy from me if you've been busted, just as I wouldn't have expected it had it been me. Drug laws come and drug laws go, and whether or not THEY like it, it's ultimately between you and your little synapses. Do what your Daddy did way back when everybody dropped sugar cubes - hide in plain sight. Where? At a rave! Safety in numbers - woo-hoo! Say I like to do coke now and then. I don't - YUCK! - but just say I do. I'm supporting drug cartels in Colombia, right? Or I could say that I'm supporting the poor people actually out there plucking the leaves, people that live without the lovely economic infrastructure and social services that we have. Granted, the cartels take most of it off the top, but anyone working for six bucks an hour at the local Walmart will tell you that THAT concept ain't new. In summation, you're ALL correct. Drugs should be legalized AND obliterated. Civil liberties should be protected AND restrained. Pat yourselves on the back everyone! You have what's called a "black box," a problem with no solution. Do you think Johnny-Raver really cares about it as he's liquid-ing away, pierced and clammy, convinced he sees a four-lane highway on the ceiling? I doubt it. Same too goes for Xochiquetzal the leaf plucker, just trying to get by.
