wow - yall are killin me with temptation ;) quick point about palestine - what is the solution? israel - who supports them other than the US? if they had to "move" where would they go? if you could take a vote of the entire world population :: who should all die? palestinians or the jews? - what would be the outcome? i think the world would vote for dead jews in a landslide - seems to me the whole f'n world hates the jews except for america (for obvs reasons) i don't understand why if all these muslim nations are so mad about that conflict - why not invite palestinians to their country with open muslim arms?? note - i'm not terribly informed on the history of the conflict......just seems to me they are fighting over a shitty piece of land.......i guess it's a holy land to the both of them?? *****hey now! ON TOPIC! =P.......ehll........wot's the DEAL with kris/thrash??? why is he so bitter against the orb and the music he made? kris - we obviously don't see eye to eye politically - but I just wanted to say that i love the contributions you have made to that group. do you find it insulting to get these type of compliments??

This is amazing... When I subscribed to an Orb mailing list, the last thing that I expected to encounter was a flame war started by healthcare disagreements, followed by a flame war directed at someone that was a MEMBER OF The Orb!!!! We all have something in common. Something inside of our collective brain is *different* than most people. What percentage of people in this world could listen to Orbvs Terrarvm and appreciate the beauty and complexity? Not too many. However, few people on this list could comprehend NOT appreciating an album of that caliber. The US may be divided by the red vs blue mentality, but this list should be able to realize that both red and blue are a part of the same spectrum. They may be opposite ends of the spectrum, but they are both an integral part of the whole. I began listening to The Orb in '95 (When Terrarvm was released). At that time it started out being a great CD for acid trips, but my appreciation for it has lasted long after my acid binges have ceased. When Tim mentioned that this album brought The Orb up to the standards of Zappa and Beethoven he made a good point. I listen to Zappa and Beethoven far more often than I listen to anything even remotely similar to The Orb, yet for some reason The Orb continues to be a permanent fixture on my playlists. Why? Because a great deal of time and effort went into the creation of every track, and it shows (on some tracks more than others, but...) The point of all this bull shit that I've been writing is that The Orb is a truly wonderful thing. The Orb has consisted of a handful of different people, each adding their own spice to the mix, and there is very little Orb material that I do not enjoy. Please, lets make this community a little less... competitive? argumentative? annoying? I'm not sure what needs to be done, but I know that the first step is to keep things on-topic. I understand that the healthcare thing was just someone that was looking for a little assistance/ammunition for an essay or something, but let this be an example of how a light-hearted off-topic post can ruin a community. Think about the poor suckers that are seeing this as their ONLY representation of this group. We are all adults, we are all intelligent, lets prove it with our actions. David

Album version - written by paterson/glover produced by youth/paterson mixed by youth/paterson engineered by thrash/hunter Aubrey version - (supposedly this was orginal version, disallowed for too much sample usage, if I understand correctly - this is admittedly anecdotal from a DJ friend who discussed it with LX) same as above except no engineering credit and remixed by pal joey Seems the credits are pretty thorough and fair, considering "Thrash" shows up plenty throughout. b) My error on the writing for Terrarvm. I thought he left between Fritz and Terrarvm, but checking now, "Weston" appears all over the credits, and checking interview archives, LX said: "Kris, as a writer, is all over the record, along with myself and Thomas Fehlmann." So, now, the question becomes, why the hell would someone leave such a project? I mean, shit, apparently the Police all hated each other, and I'd have to guess Sting was really the center of all that, but couldn't they put that shit aside? Sting without the Police is only slightly better than Alan Wilder without Depeche Mode (or DM without AW, for that matter). And - I guess Weston wouldn't have had much to sue over since he did get credit! Apparently the song in question is "Montagne D'Or." LX: "Andy actually appears as a writer on 'Montagne D'Or,' but Kris couldn't get his head around the idea that it had derived from another track and that the other people involved should get a credit. I had to give up on vinyl for awhile (until I actually get decent .+.+. turntables again) but I really like the Kompakt stuff I've heard. It is my personal opinion that the United States government has seriously harmed the progression of popular music in this country by failing to properly enforce payola laws and by de-regulating the broadcast media. Can someone tell me the Clear Channel station that will play an Orb song (except as background for a commercial?)?
