That article "Divisions Deep Over Claims Of Jewish Influence" (at http://tbrnews.org) was pretty supportive (in a forced neutral manner) of anti-Semitic bullshit. The word "nigger" would be a meaningless descriptive if it hadn't been so demonized by the PC crowd and allowed the ignorant who use it as a pejorative a reason to further increase its negative power. At this point in time "black" has somehow become a "bad word." I think the problem is that people (including you, Thrash) feel it necessary to separate people into Jews, Niggers, Spics, Towelheads, Mudpeople, Democrats, Republicans, Tories, Gypsies... instead of realizing there are only two kinds of people: The powerful and the powerless. One's state may change moment to moment (your unshaven neighbor is the powerful when he beats his wife but he is the powerless when he takes his paycheck from his boss's fat fingers, and his boss is powerful at work but powerless when he tries to get a small loan to expand his business while the banker is powerful unless he is dealing with a corporate CEO that can basically tell him to stand on his head and eat shit if he wants) but as individuals we are nothing under the heels of the superwealthy. As long as you allow yourselves to be divided into small competing groups you loose. When you point a finger at "Jews" you get ground beneath a bulldozer, when you point a finger at the World Bank you get thrown out of a helicopter, when you point your finger at NAFTA and the Whitehouse you become a "suspect" and suddenly your career is fucked and the instant you break any law you're nailed. In the US the least powerful don't need to worry since they so rarely can think independently enough to drag their fat ass from the couch to the car to McDonald's and back that the chances of them actually rising up against injustice is non-existent. Religion may be the opiate of the masses but television is the morphine of the massive Americans. If you've been following the news recently there was a supreme court case about the free speech protections of cross burning. The court decided it to be not covered under the first ammendment. Essentially the argument was that cross burning is not really a form of speech. It is a message used specifically to convey a message of hatred and intolerance. This is my problem with trying to justify using words such as nigger because of one's anti-political correctness views. The word nigger is a detestable ethnic slur, and as such its use is always detestable. I would use the same argument (in fact, have in the past with black friends of mine) that those who use the word to mean comrade eg "He's my nigga" etc should not use it as such... Of course, on the other hand, this can be taken to far. For instance (http://www.adversity.net/special/niggardly.htm) I remember one Mr. David Howard, who was the director of some washington DC municiple agency, who was forced to resign because of his use of the word "niggardly" in a speech. Now, the philology of the word "niggardly" deviates totally from the background of the word "nigger" and this poor man was forced to resign simply because he used a word which happens to SOUND like a detestable racial slur. Its the implication that somehow to be cursed with one PARTICULAR skin color someone means one is less of a person. For instance I dont think anyone would mind being called "White" if they are caucasian. But when you call them a "cracker," even tho both words are simply descriptions of skin color, the latter word would cause a completely different response... Really what the solution would be, is to get rid of the negative intent. IE: To get rid of racism. That way you could use whatever word you wanted, as long as the meaning is understood by your audience, because they would KNOW that there is no veiled insult inherent in the word. But since we cannot just get rid of all racism, we do what we can. Sometimes this means things get overblown, like with "niggardly" but it also means that we curtail the use of detestable ethnic slurs, which is inarguably a good thing... Well it's about time I say something I guess. First time I heard Orb would have been around 92. My buddy had a tape of ABTU. At the time, I was just waking up from American Top 40 land into the world of Metallica, Megadeath, Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendancies, etc (which turned into Nine Inch Nails and Ministry thanks to the same friend). To me 'techno' was all lame boom boom boom crap with some piano chops thrown on top. The Orb is what turned me on to what techno could really be. It was down in my friend's basement, where he had his bedroom cut off from sunlight with garbage bags over the windows. I mostly remember the variety of music coming off of this one tape, and I kept forgetting that it was all the same group. It just went on and on, from dancy fluffy clouds to darkly religious earth to upbeat spanish castles to reggae perpetual dawn to spacey AHEGPB. Blew me away. It was a little while later another friend played U.F.Orb for me, and I'm embarrassed to say that at the time I wasn't impressed (one of my favourites now). It just didn't have the variety of my first experience, it was sliding back into what I thought of at the time as 'techno'. But soon after that I went out and got a double cassette of live 93, and that was the hook. I could no longer escape. Now for my most memorable orb experience - it would be Pomme Fritz. I remember taking a trip down to the city to get it (hour and a half to Vancouver BC), and dropping some acid on the way back. Me and half a dozen of my friends. We got back to my buddy's place, and we were just starting to get tingles. I popped in the CD. We all sat back and didn't say a word for the whole CD. I hadn't had a clue what to expect. It was the weirdest shit I had ever heard, and hearing it for the first time while peaking was mind bending. Probably even more for some of my friends who hadn't heard of the Orb before and weren't into 'techno'. That will always stick with me as one of my best acid trips, sitting back being overwhelmed by the lunacy coming out of the speakers, looking around and seeing everyone else experiencing basically the same thing. We were all shell shocked after that, but it went on to be a good fun trip. Those were the days when I had a steady supply of the nicest liquid, it would come in food colouring vials. It's been years since I've done any, but I'd do it again - if someone I trust told me it was good. These days I mostly just stick to the herb, plus the odd case or 3 of Molson Candian (that's beer for all you deprived people out there in the wide wide world, especially you poor poor yanks). Once or twice a year maybe a little psylocibin. Nothing like the glory days of my high school/technical institute days, when i was on a mission to try everything. Now I have a real job and a house and bills to pay. I'm not grown up (well, I'm 27), but I'm doing a good job of pretending, I think. Anyway, this is long enough. I think that covers all 3 for me: magic moment, my age, and me n' drugs. ps any of you gone and looked at that place tbrnews.org whot thrash posted about? scary shit man. i hate g dubya, and i think it's sad that the israeli's can't see the similarity between the warsaw ghetto in wwii and the west bank today, but i don't buy all that jewish conspiracy bullshit, and i cringe when i come accross a list of 'that guy's a jew, and that guy's a jew too!!'. i suggest that you forget all about that site thrash. it's sick shit. i'm surprised nobody else had anything to say about it, i guess nobody bothered reading it. anyway, i'm all for open debate, and i don't like people who scream anti-semitism as an involuntary reflex action any time someone criticizes israel, but that tbrnews.org place just goes too far, IMHO. just had to say somefin.

CD: 2001 US (MCA; MCAR-25352-2) [promo] 3:53 Once More (Radio Edit) 3:43 Once More (Scourge of The Earth Short Mix) 8:03 Once More (Bedrock Edit 2) 10:17 Little Fluffy Clouds (Danny Tenaglia's Detour Mix) Seems like someone gave us this info a couple of years back. I vaguely remember something being mentioned. But since Rachel didn't have anything listed (that I could find) in her discography thought I'd send this info along. How about a 12" promo?
