i dont think the question is of censorship in regards to the war, more out of compassion for the dead soldiers families. every station i saw gave a disclaimer that they were given the full footage, and that they made a decission not to show the faces of the dead bodies. kinda the right thing to do; i wouldnt want my son's corpse on a grissly display for some demented f*cks to cheer over. mike ahern

Were the shocking videos of the dead or arrested US soldiers broadcasted by the US tv channels? Sorry If I ask this here but its a first hand way to find out the truth about whether there is censorship or not in the US information about the war. Thanks Dimos

Almost... They are no longer showing the footage because it breaks the laws of the Geneva Convention to show the face of POWs. It actually works out well in the end. It's basically a smoking gun that also shows that some soldiers were shot in the head at close range. In other words, they were probably executed after they surrendered. No, they won't show anything like that on TV. The US TV is pretty repressed when it comes to real-life violence. It's ok if it's in movies and video/computer games though. Check out Grand Theft auto. The Steve Reich ensemble played a concert in Dallas this past Saturday evening, and I went to check it out. After the show was over, they had a question/answer session, and someone asked about Reich Remixed and electronic music and whether or not Reich listened to it. During the course of his answer, he brought up the Orb. He said that he was being interviewed in London in 91, and that the journalist asked him what he thought of the Orb using his work. He replied that he hadn't heard it, so the journalist gave him a CD of Ultraworld. He said, "These guys don't just like something, they take it!" He then said that he decided not to sue them. I thought it was pretty interesting... I was thinking about it, and the Orb was my introduction to Reich. I bought Electric Counterpoint because of that connection, and that led to my purchasing other Reich CDs and going to this concert. Steve

The Custerd promo got me all excited to seek it out to hear a snippet. I haven't found a place to hear it yet but I did stumble on this in the meantime. hi all, it's been a LONG time since i've been a member to this mailing list. but just recently i visited the orb website and became very excited at some of the projects in the works. the one that really got my attention was the Custerd album. cauty and patterson together again. can we expect another classic in the vein of "huge pulsating brain?" any info on this release would be greatly appreciated. anyone know what to expect from the new album? i'm hoping for a organic, ambient type release. i love the kompakt sound, but the orb doing it just doesn't sit right with me. finally, any idea how i can contact someone regarding the last badorb releases? i emailed them many times with no response. it's VERY frustrating because they charged my account for both 12 and CD releases, and still no sign of them anywhere. i must admit it soured me to the point of boycotting buying orb releases, but i just couldn't. orb helped create my passion for music over the years. -alex
