Rather than using a sail stopper (which, as Thomas Howe pointed out) is often keen on jumping overboard, I drilled a hole through the two sides of the groove and put a pin through it. The pin is captive on a short piece of line. Thanks for the reminder, Steve. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: <s.mcclellan@attbi.com> To: "MBoats Listserver" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, April 07, 2003 3:38 PM Subject: term needed Can somebody help me out? What do you call the little thingie that locks into the mast groove, that prevents the lugs of the mainsail from coming out as you lower it? _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
I think it was Connie or some other practical person who told us he/she just wrapped a bungee around the mast to act as a sail stop. Doug At 03:03 PM 4/7/03 -0500, you wrote:

I always use duct tape for that job, and Bob Campbell likes to put it over my mouth to keep me from blaspheming after I drink too much beer. Works good to keep halyards from slapping, too. Oh yeh, and it works fine for taping my glasses on so I don't loose them when I fall in the water!
