Hello My Name is Pete, I have been a member for a while. ( a few years ) and last year ( May ) aquired a 1983 Montgomery 15 # 243, I am the 3rd owner of the Boat, and absolutly Love it. I spent the beginning of the year restoring her, and spent the month of Sept (2015) Sailing her ( with my wife Kate) on Lake Pend Oreille . My Question is regarding the Bow Pulpit, I currently have the for lack of a better term have the Ballon catcher, and would like to replace it with the more modern style ( the type that is on Scred ) the question is, are the deck holes in the same location to accept the newer style ? and what does a new one cost ? and who makes them ? Montgomery 15 - pulpit

I managed to bend the pulpit on my 1986 Montgomery 15 this summer when I was rear-ended in heavy freeway traffic. I am in the process of getting a replacement. Railmakers.com makes them but I am planning to get a pulpit used on the Sage 17 from Sage Marine. Yours looks pretty stock to me. Pretty boat! Hi All, Looks like another sweet boat Jerry and Dave. I so enjoyed my M-17 #384 Molly M. I sold her in the spring as I needed shoulder surgery and knew I wouldn't be using her for almost a year. I'll be looking into a 15 this time…Maybe I can afford a Sage? Don't know if I could do without a Jib though as I like the extra hp in light wind and I like running the jib. SF Bay also likes having multiple sail options. Such a good looking boat and I'm sure she sails great. Congratulations Jerry and Dave and company. You're gonna make a lot of future sailors very happy happy. Hoping to be back sailing something designed by JM or Hess soon. More sailing and Subaru towing report

Hi again, Had Pajarita (M17 #38) in a temporary slip at Lake of the Woods, southern Oregon, last Wednesday through Sunday. Sailed her Wednesday, briefly Friday, longer sails Saturday and Sunday. Wed-Sat were medium to strong winds and gustiness, kept to the small jib and first reef in main Fri and Sat as some of the gusts were 15+ and from varying/unpredictable mountain lake directions. She does great in all conditions so far. Sunday was calm to light air, finally got to try the genoa, which seems huge in my experience, and moves her along amazingly well in feather-light breezes. Then it was time to haul out. My 2001 Outback wagon 2.5L 5-spd did just fine pulling her out of the water. It is a fairly gentle ramp, there are certainly steeper ones out there. But so far so good, it wasn't on the edge on the gentle ramp so there is some margin for steeper ones. And, because of the gentle ramp, getting her off the trailer was difficult without floating the car also. So before pulling out, I had fabricated an 18" (pin to pin) extension bar for my hitch. That gave me just enough more trailer in the water (without the car more in the water) to float her all but the last 2 ft. or so onto the trailer. I use the extension bar ONLY on the ramp - it's not suitable for towing. Ultimately I need the front of the trailer extended, ideally with a sliding extension. The tow home included ~12 miles of sometimes winding and sometimes steep downhill, secondary highway quality road. Engine braking and vehicle brakes were adequate for the task.
