rebedding and refinishing

Dave, Thanks for your thorough how-to on rebedding deck hardware and refinishing the teak. I plan on doing both as soon as this mountain of snow melts (Boston area). Hi Daniel, Another great epoxy supplier is System Three.They offer a starter kit with a variety of materials and instruction manual.Your approach will work well, don't breathe the fumes! It's bad ju-ju.Practice makes perfect when it comes to epoxy. Dave, Thanks for the input. I'm not able to take a look at the unit now, but what I was thinking about cutting just the top part off (the part that is taller than the starboard berth) and having just that part slide back; then add hardware into the bottom part to make a seat. However, I have decided that since part of Griselda's beauty is that she was kept in such good condition without major modifications, I should just keep everything as is... just add a water tank and maybe a portable gas burner.

I wish I had a short shaft for my M 15 motor mount. It is obvious from the specs listed in the motor owner's manual the prop extends several inches too far beyond the bottom of the transom when the mount is in the down position. Perhaps it's a matter of the hieght of the initial positioning of the mount on the transom? When I reseated my mast step, I drilled the holes a little larger, used a nail to try and clean out any soft wood, then "dammed" the bottom of the holes with duct tape, then used a syringe to dispense penetrating epoxy into the holes. When the epoxy cured, I redrilled to correct original bolt diameter and seated the mast step with 3M 4000 UV. This has worked well for me but YMMV.

Sliding galley unit?

I asked about this in a previous post but it was mixed with another subject. I'm interested in altering the galley unit on Griselda. My idea is to use a dremel tool or something to trace around where the galley attaches to the hull, leaving the lower part to build a seating area into. Then i'd like to put the upper part on a track to slide it below the cockpit when I want to use the bunk, or pull it back for using the galley. That way, day sails would be more comfortable with more people, but during extended cruises or overnighting, i could use the galley. Does anyone have any thoughts about this idea?

Stan, thanks for the offer. It would be cool to meet someone who possibly helped build Griselda. There aren't any issues I can think of that need work though, Ron and his brother kept her in really, really good shape. The only major alteration I may do in the future is to detach the galley unit from the hull and put it on a slider system so I can push it back under/into the port cockpit locker for more seating area when the galley is not in use. I think I saw a write-up for doing that somewhere once but can't remember where. Dave, thanks for helping me with how to post to the board. I wasn't exactly sure how to do so, and didn't know the rules about pictures. (Sorry!) Eldor, well, it's too bad we can't sail together, but I don't feel too terribly bad...since you get to sail San Juan! That's awesome. Does anyone remember a write up about the movable galley?
