Some guys have been able to sneak theirs in by dropping the hitch to the ground and then sliding it back in. That takes care of the bow pulpit problem, but I still had problems getting the tabernacle past. Tim, On my 1976 M17 the pivot hole in the centerboard has a nylon bushing. I replaced this bushing when I reconditioned the board a couple years ago, but I started to notice more banging around down there late last summer. I'm thinking the bushing may be shot again. Looking for Montgomery 15 or 17

Hello group, I am new here. We currently own 2 boats, a Ranger 23 and a Com-pac 16. We have kept our Ranger on Lake Superior in a slip but have grown tired of being limited by that location and decided to get a trailer sailor. We found a Com-pac 16 and that worked fine when it was just the two of us, however this fall we added a new addition to the family and the C-16 is just too small. We have seen Montgomery 17s and we know that boat will work well for us, but we have not seen a Montgomery 15, we think there is a chance the 3 of us would be able to sleep comfortably on the 15, unless someone here tells me otherwise. So we are currently in the market. We live in Minnesota but have no problem driving cross country for the right boat, we have done it before. Hi Gang, I own the inexpensive Garmin Etrex and also found it to be a useful basic GPS system, it worked fine for Theo and I in the North Channel WITH the aid of charts and current tables. I wanted to go up a step and get a WAAS model before the North Channel trip and have recently purchased a used 76MAP Garmin. This has a lot of useful features, maps pre-loaded, is upgradeable, and is reasonably priced. My 2 cents. Bones

We are planning on doing the 2007 San Juan Cruise. We are trying to get equipment together starting now. One item that we would like some help with is the handheld GPS. We are fresh water sailors here in Texas but would like to purchase one with bouy and markers shown. After The Cruise, we will use it as we travel this country in the motorhome. Oh, and we want one that is reasonably priced. We are looking for guidance. What do you use? Offshore? Eldor and Dorothy M-17 Motu iti. Quite awhile back, I had a problem with a sticking centerboard on my M17. I saill it on fresh but do a lot of salt water sailing. Sometimes she is in the salt water foe a couple of weeks at a time. To free it, I did little pounding with a steel rod inserted in the pennant hoe. Once it dropped, Ihad it sand blasted and primed. That worked very well and now when it occasionally sticks, I squirt a very little bit of WD 40 into the pennant hole (on both sides of the centerboard ) and it usually drops quickly. Spring in the Great Lakes region is coming, I promise, and I still want to find that ideal M-15 for Michigan 2007 cruising and fun! It wouldn't have to have lead ballast, bimini, adjustable mount, ladder, green sheer stripe, tongue extension trailer, and crisp reefing sails, but that sure would be nice!
