While on a lovely late-December sail, fine westerlies, air and water both about fifty degrees, I left "Wanda" (Navico TP-10) on watch and went below to answer that lady's call. It was then I noted a trickle of water running down the vertical midship support between the bilge and bridge deck. Where is it coming from? How can I stop it? My first M15 "Joy" used to accumulate water in her bilge after a good sail, and I never did find the source. Now I have a clue, but not the solution. Who does? Bill, Not quite that small, although my formal name is John (Rick is from my middle name, Merrick) John (or Jon) Davies is a pretty common name, particularly in Wales. I lived until I was almost eleven in a small town a couple of miles from the Welsh border, where it seemed as if every other person was named either Davies or Jones. There were two other John Davies's in my class at school. But I've never been to Santa Clara. The cross-sheeting in Bella is pretty clever, and obviously very convenient, but it doesn't seem to work in the M-17, where the jib sheet fairleads are track-mounted, and are usually not far forward of the forward end of the cockpit. I'll certainly post pictures (that is, if I accomplish anything!) Boarding Ladder

Hello Jim, I have a 3 Step telescoping ladder made by Windline. I like it because it is of stainless steel and feels quite strong. It also telesopes down to a relatively small size and thus does not stick up above the transom. The down side is that it has a very small footprint. To account for this I mounted a 1/2 inch marine grade plywood backing plate to the inside of the transom. I also made sure that I mounted it high enough to be on the thicker part of the transom. To gain access to the area I installed a Lewmar deck hatch on the starboard side seat. This has given me the added benefit of additional cockpit storage. Happy Sailing (or dreaming of sailing...) When I had a Motor Vehicle Dealers License in Arizona they told me 'frowned' on people adding their own ID #'s and or plates to a trailer - Howards idea is the best approach as some entities may view the creative addition of numbering as potential fraud(!). If the MVDept. Inspector Person assigns your vehicle a number you are in a comfortable position when it comes time for you to transfer the trailer. Just ask the local agency what they would require for a trailer with 'no ID marks present' - they have a procedure - it is just getting the right people to help you. They still "flip out" when I go in to register my boat - as it has an 'identical twin', according to HIN's, in Texas. Good Luck. I recently purchased a 1977 M-17 and Shoreline trailer in September from a fellow in Virginia. Pennsylvania (my home state) will not give me a registration because the VIN plate is missing. Hence, I can't prove that the trailer is the same as the one for which the VIN number is shown on the title. Virginia DMV won't talk to me because I am not a resident of Virginia. The previous owner won't talk to me because he has his money. Does anyone know if the VIN number is perhaps stamped somewhere on the frame so that an inspection mechanic can verify that the VIN number on the title and the VIN number on the trailer match. M-15 Motor Mount

Hello Jim, I too have the Honda 2HP Long Shaft. I started with the fixed mount and it worked ok but I had to turn the motor 90 degrees to get it to clear the transom. In addition, the propeller would still drag. I switched to a lifting motor mount that I already had and it works beautifully. No more rotating the motor to get it to lift to a locking position and I can adjust the depth of the propeller based upon sea state and speed. John Hippe M-15 *Jester*
