Heh. Well, I don't object to the occasional non-English post. If Oh Jay wants to speak Hax0r and look childish, that's fine with me. I do definitely agree with him about the HTML posts though. HTML belongs on the web ONLY, folks - NOT in email. Some mailing lists are set up to automatically filter out HTML tags or simply discard messages that contain non-plaintext. It would be nice if that could be implemented here. -- /* Soleil */
i don't want to sound like a complete internet idiot but how can you see whether your mail is in html or not? g Soleil Lapierre wrote:On Sun, 8 Sep 2002, Mark Reed wrote:

If you cant see HTML mail, you get a mess of HTML tags embedded in with the message. Some people's email doesnt support HTML, so it makes them really frustrated to try and read messages through a bunch of tags. You know HTML tags, right? <a href="http://www.website.com">website</a> <img src="img.gif"> <font size="5" color="blue" face="Verdana">THIS IS BLUE</font> and so on. If you saw a bunch of text in brackets, your email doesnt support HTML, if you didnt and saw blue text, and things, then youre email does. Signed, omegaChance http://www.mp3.com/omegaChance
You're using Yahoo! mail, when you compose a message, make sure the 'Allow HTML tags' box is not checked, this should ensure text only. Signed, omegaChance http://www.mp3.com/omegaChance

Similarly, Netscape, Mozilla and (I think) MSIE have options under mail and news preferences to compose plaintext-only messages. It's unfortunate that they're not set that way by default. -- /* Soleil */

And on Opera 6, the Outgoing tab on the mail feature. Signed, omegaChance http://www.mp3.com/omegaChance
Wow! I'm really happy that omegachance and others have taken the time to help someone out with this. Believe it or not, sometimes folks don't know all the ins and outs of their email programs. I also just learned the hard way ;-) that in the American yahoo email program I'm using, 'plain' needs to be used when composing, I don't have the choice indicated below. This may help someone else. Here's hoping this message comes through ok :-) pat --- omegaChance <omegaChance@firemail.de> wrote:
