got soulseek now. i found a "piece of music" *harrharr*,
in which whitney houston sings "wanna dance with somebody" to
the music of "nummern". sounds very funny ;-))))
The only ACTUAL case of Kraftwerk putting the breaks
on an album release was with the Electric Cafe set.
It was really more of a case of KW just dragging their
feet with post production (one of the reasons that led
to Karl Bartos leaving the band). According to my
sources at Warner Brothers, the album was SUPPOSED to
be completed and ready for promotion and release in
late '83 or early '84. The album had been completed
in '85 but wasn't released until '86. According to
Warner Brothers, they had announced a release date but
that was cancelled by the band and they opted for a
later release...those reasons are known only to KW,
I'm sure. It's nearly impossible to get information
directly from KW sources and their official website
tells nothing. I've spoken to my record rep with
EMI/Elektra and according to them, they "have no
current information on a new Kraftwerk album". So,
perhaps, KW is working on new material but has yet to
present it to their record company. Let's all keep
hoping, praying, meditating or whatever helps the
process along!

I really wish they would stop playing that song. It doesn't fit into the concept. While at it, they could trash Neonlights as well. Blimey, why not do away with Autobahn and TEE too. (oh boy, am I going to be flamed on this one)
Nice to know there were dancers as well though. =)

The first show was much more fun that way, especially the guys who broke
down into a primal scream after a minute or so of the extreme tension. =)
But seriously, what's with you french people (or whoever made up the larger
portion of the crowd)? There would have been somewhere around 1200 people
on the floor in front of the stage and I think I could have counted the
number of people actually dancing and moving to the music on my fingers.
I'm quite happy sitting on the balcony and just letting all the data flow
into me, but I'm amazed how static the people on the floor were.
Practically no singing along, despite the fact that Ralf even sang the
Mini-calculateur (excuse spelling mistakes) lyrics of Pocket Calculator.
Had this show been in Sweden (or rather: when this show gets to Sweden ;) I
can guarantee you the floor will be _moving_ and _screaming_, as indeed
they were at the last shows here in '91. =)
There, hope you won't be to angry with me now, I just think it's
interesting with these cultural differences.

I don´t know if this is common to most KW fans, but since last year is an
official Beat-Club DVD available, containing an 11min23 live performance of
"Rueckstossgondoliere" from 1971.

Hello to all,
Recently, I foundd at Internet a DVD called "Better Living Through
Circuitry" - (1999), a documentary about rave culture.
To my surprise, I could see in the credits an interview with Wolfgang
Flur about the Kraftwerk first american tour.
You can see more details at

Does any member saw this DVD? It's a good interview?
Let us know about this release.

30/09/02 N° 160:
Exclusive: Problems during Belgian Kraftwerk gig
Apparently Kraftwerk has not yet sorted out the technical problems they
faced when postponing their gig in Luxembourg. Our correspondent in Ghent,
where Kraftwerk performed, informs that the band was having technical
problems as well. Though most of the fans won't have noticed it as it was
all well hidden in the show. The gig that was to take place in Luxembourg at
the Atelier on Sunday September 22nd has been postponed until September 29th
due to problems relating to the band's equipment. Although the gig is
postponed with one week, the gig remains soldout, but the tickets remain
valid of course. For more news, check the venue's website below. Atelier

Quoted from UK record shop Music Non Stop newsletter #109:
Komputer - Market Led
Simon Leonard and David Baker (aka Komputer) release a new
album, "Market Led", on Mute on the 16th of September. "Market Led"
is follow up to 1998's 'The World Of Tomorrow', the debut Komputer
album which introduced the pair to adherents of guitarless music as
guardians of the Kraftwerk flame. The interval between "The World Of
Tomorrow" and "Market Led" saw David and Simon fast forward through
several evolutionary stages to arrive at the new sound of Komputer.
After a year and a half of experimentation and research the resulting
album finds sample and download replacing vocal and chord pattern.
For "Market Led", Komputer have adapted a specific set of 'day job'
influenced sampling parameters. When not wrestling with filters,
sequencers and processors, David and Simon assemble and disassemble
the stalls at Spitalfields Market, giving them random access to
abandoned vinyl left over from the days trade. Deciding this was an
appropriate way to acquire source material, they set about
constructing tracks on the album out of samples from the orphaned
records. Komputer's "Market Led" may just be the coolest edge of
dance record of the year. It has house music as sparse as an
underground car park at midnight, acid robo disco like it's coming
from your subconscious, freaky percussive journeys, Zen loops and
beautifully displaced piano mantras. The sound of a kick drum banging
on the door of post-structuralist philosophy, it's a full on
celebration of the hyper-plasticity of sound and the joy of rhythm.
Released 16th September 2002. Mute. CD £13.95
