Ofcourse it's a genuine item. How can I be so blind not seeing this!?
Sarcasm aside, I too feel it's genuine, based on the clarity of the b-side, the Monster Attack mix of WTIL. Too have included that track, which, according to the discog, was only pressed on 3 discs but we'll say it's slightly higher, you would need to have one of the following: - an original pressing with Monster on it - One of the two bootleg compilations containing it (WROST and Arkive 1) - Master tapes . The sound quality of Miles pressing of Monster far surpasses the quality of both the bootleg version so they are clearly ruled out. So, the bootlegger must have had their own copy of Monster, or it's genuine. Chances are that the bootleger/manufacturer had a copy of this pressing, plus a set of labels and sleeves narrows down that option considerably. But there is still that chance. Given the facts, which is more likely? (not that facts matter to some here) -paul
I think Maarten and I will never agree on this. Realistically, there's no way to say for sure. I also feel that there's a slight grey area when it comes to some kinds of bootlegs. Take 5 TOTP and 3AM1 for example: if you believe that one of ENT had 3AM1 pressed up as a way to make some money, then it's a bootleg of sorts but it's still fairly collectable right? The other interesting ones are the "fake" JAMS LP1 (the one that looks almost identical to the original minus some small - but obvious - typos) and especially the 1991 re-issues of KLF004T, KLF005T and KLF005R. Regarding the latter, it seems that these were re-issued legitimately by B&J, possibly on the back of the success of the "public access" versions, so it wouldn't be fair to attribute "bootleg" status to them though. That said, I for one always cringe when I see "KLF PURE TRANCE 2 REMIXES -- MEGA RARE" listed on eBay when in fact it's the 1991 re-issue that didn't have the sticker on it. Maybe I'm just too much of a trainspotter? =) Regarding "Love Trance" - I agree with what Paul says. I think either B and/or J themselves, or someone very close to them, managed to put together a very small number of these by combining test pressings/first runs with the labels and picture sleeves (that everyone agrees exist). This could also explain the unusual fact that WTIL appears on the B-side (as opposed to another Love Trance mix) in that they never got round to doing any other mixes of Love Trance. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of TheMgnt@aol.com Sent: 10 July 2003 19:02 To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [KLF] RE: Love trash (was:"Oohs", "wahhs", "muuus" and all that)
