RE: [KLF] Chipping Norton : Live footage (was Deep Shit)
DVD-Audio is yet to be explored in any way, I think. The BBC recently released its first radio show on the format (the first new series of "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy") - and if 5.1 can be used for anything it must be (a) ambient music and (b) radio drama (both of which collide with Arthur Dent and his galacic wanderings!) Is the 5.1 Space disc a homebrew 5.1 DTS re-encode, or is there any sort of story behind it? Ambient is a music that has yet to explore the possibilities of DVD-Audio or SACD, but is well over due.

I'm likely to agree with you there. Sadly, it seems that the 5.1 music format was practically stillborn, with a few notable exceptions. Anyone looking to really hear with the format can do should really check out the DVD-A release of The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots". While the mix may be a bit gimmicky at moments, it really explores what the format can do. -s- -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of John Milne Sent: Friday, September 09, 2005 12:21 PM To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Now that I'd be curious to hear. The last 5.1 disc I purchased was DJ Dan live At Ruby Sky, and the mix was pretty basic. Sounded m ore like a Dolby Pro-Logic 2 mix. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Andrew Lee Sent: Friday, September 09, 2005 1:19 PM To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Have to agree, though the earlier 'Zaireeka' project is also worth a blast, though you need 4 CD players with stereo output, and around 25 quid for the 4-CD set if it is still available. However it benefits by being almost always slightly out of phase depending on your 4 cd set-up and how many hands you have to press 'play', thus a different experience every time or at least in every home =) tbc.
