Incredibly sad to hear this. Condolences to his family. John was one of the guys I always thought kept this list alive over the past years. Shall miss his input on the discussions :( On 7 Oct 2011, at 22:02, Thomas Touzimsky <tto@klf.de> wrote:

Very sad to hear the news - for as long as I can remember, John's always been present on this list and we recently began sharing tracks with each other. Time to "Build A Fire" in memory of a lost ancient one. He is now on "Last Train To Trancentral" and is "All Bound for Mu-Mu Land". When the time comes and I hear the jingle of the ice cream van... I will ask them to "Make mine a 99" and hold it aloft in memory. Here's to you John. Thanks for the memories of years gone by and making this list a better place. Sincerely, Mr. Kelly R. He's a story about John. Years ago I found myself flush with cash from a good job and some ebaying so I decided that I wanted to go after a lot of those KLF rarities, which at the time were going for really obscene amounts of money. I have been on this list from 96/97 and put a shout-out that I was looking to buy some rarities but would only deal with "Ancients" as Tim would call them. John was one of the two people who responded. He had reached a point in his life where owning the physical records didn't matter to him anymore, so he digitized his KLF records and decided to sell them because of the going prices, and this is a direct quote "this is a life-changing amount of money" and whilst John still loved the music, if memory serves he was planning on changing direction. Don't remember if this was marriage, education, buying a new home etc. but it was something big for him. We negotiated, discussed condition, all the usual things. At the end John sold me the bulk of his rarities for a good but not outragous price. Don't get me wrong, I PAID for these records but John could have certainly made more selling them on eBay. He was a long time list member, knew I was, and sold me some great stuff at a good but fair price. He really did me a solid as he could have made about 20% more selling them individually on ebay. MUCH of what resides on the LL was purchased by me from John. I didn't know him personally, but had many dealings with him and through those dealings learned that he was fair, kind, a "seeker", and always sought to evolve. I will miss him :-( Next time you grab something from the LL remember it probably belonged to John :-) Dan Hutchins On Oct 8, 2011, at 1:03 AM, trance3am <trance3am@yahoo.com.au> wrote:

I assume you reference this to offer the idea to today's sad news. A memory of John, followed through with this original concept, by him. I for one would be keenly interested in this, and if it's 'in memory' there's all the more reason it can mean something more. I have little or no idea how to organise an event, but am happy to get involved from whatever may be required, whether it be tea boy, to any other responsibility. If anyone has any idea on how to spearhead such an event, and we can inputs just as much interest into what we recently achieved with the Liberation Loophole Logistically it's a mammoth to put together. Now's the time to show an interest in this, it may well not have a catalyst to operate again for server years. I say yes to KLFestival - any other takers? I've never thought of those words in that way - but when you associate them with what has happened they do certainly pull on your heart strings. Genuinely sad news. With my online dealings over the years it is very rare to come across someone who portrays such a genuinely nice and kind hearted character, but John managed it easily. It must have been a real privilege to know him on the other side of the screen. I still can not believe it. Like many others, I've changed some emails with John, even mailed him some CD's. He was a very kind person, and a true music lover with a great sense of humour. It's a huge loss. My deepest condolence to his family and friends.
